Banks Of The Rio De La Palma

Bad news about an hour ago my Hydor Prime 20 packed up, off to MA in a bit to try out one of their Aquamanta EFX200's 800LPH but with the extra media I'm gonna cram in from the old filter it should drop a little and not blow my Florabase everywhere, on the bright side if the BBA in my tank is caused by dead spots in flow then it should be cured this afternoon. I'll put up a review in case anyone is thinking of trying one out as they're quite cheap and look quite good.

Well turns out its a really good filter, the flow in the 60L is perfect for plants, good solid movement all round the tank, doesn't make a sound, and with the spray bar off (as I don't use them) and the outlet 2 inches below the surface hidden away it gives enough surface movement to stop any film I previously had. Every plant, even in the dense Crypt foliage is swaying nicely. Good good filter for £70, plenty of bang for your buck.

Bought an UP inline atomiser today for this set up, can't believe how good it is, cant even see a single bubble coming out of the outlet, just the odd bit of mist if you look really closely. Just waiting to see the drop checker change colour so I can get the needle valve in the right place now. I'll chuck up a vid later.

Just sold all the Crypts from the front left. :S Going with a large Microsorum 'Narrow' and some Echinodorus as it was getting too much like a jungle in there, may be heading over to my local Redmoor supplier this week too for a few more bits as this scape I think needs more, what you reckon?

I have 2 of these, they are great aren't they...not only is it another item out of the tank they seem far more efficient!!

As for what to do, I'm unsure as it's such a great scape... any chance of a pic with the plants removed? may be able to suggest something then

Yeah they are great, I love the mist they give out, I cant put up a pic as I'm ripping them out the day I put the other plants and wood in, it bugs me because of how tall the crypts have got, they also cover my 2 x Aponogeton Crispus Reds and 2 x standard Aponogetons. Oh well we'll see if its a mistake tuesday lol.

Small update, well a big one actually, I re scaped it a little, went to my redmoor dealer and bought a huge beautiful piece off him and then had to rip the scape to bits to fit it in, had a slight problem tho, I bought some java fern narrow from ebay for a huge regular java fern to turn up which doesn't fit the scape so waiting for the new stuff to arrive friday then I'll put up some pic's. Gotta wait for the new wood to soak to as its held down by a stone at the mo and its a different colour to the rest till its water logged.

Great journal. I enjoyed reading through all seven pages of it  So good to see that you kept going and didn't give up. Tis a beautiful tank :good:

Wow that was a long old read then lol, thanks for the kind comment :), looks totally different now, will put some pic's up tomorrow.
