Thanks mate, small update, got my LED's and got them over the tank, as I wasn't allowed to hang the lighting (wifes orders) lol, I made up some short stilts for it out of stainless welding rods, it houses 8 x 3W LED's and as its close to the surface I need to pick up some different angled lens's as the light isn't spread enough at the moment so in the next couple of days I'll put up some pic's. Have to say as well it looks a much more natural light too, at first I thought they weren't the correct Kelvin but they're 6500K which is fine for plant growth, it just doesn't look as intense as the old Ellipse fixture and the Embers aren't quite as bright but I'm quite happy with it. Now to set about welding the old 24W light bracket to the lid of the fixture for Eden and that will have, hopefully, enough light over it to keep the Stellata and Rotala their natural yellow and red colours, equivalent of 2.7WPG as supposed to the 1.2WPG with the original lighting.
Enough rambling from me pic's of the new lighting over the Eden scape tonight .
After much messing with light units I've decided I like the less bright, natural lighting so I'm gonna use LEDs on Eden too, then all 3 scapes will have LED lighting .
Here's some pic's guys, there's a pic at the bottom of the old lighting for comparison, you can really see how much its grown since it was planted less than two weeks ago too . I much prefer the new lighting, less intense and a more natural feel.
Steve thats an awesome light mate !!! Did you do a journal on how you made it ? Tank is looking awesome and I really love the new light. It does wonders. The original one seemed fine. UNTIL you see the pics with the LEDs
