So I bought a new angel today along with a few more tetras. My tetras seem to be schooling more now with the increased numbers which is fine.

However upon adding the new angel my older angel just stared at it for a good few minutes before having a bite at them, over and over and over. Non stop.

So I removed him and put him in the box while the new angel gets used to the tank

Is this already going to become a problem or is there more I can do?

My new angel, but hes twice as small as my normal guy.

From what I have heard it once an angel is established they won't accept new ones, but that's just what I have heard others saying and pet shops saying.

I know, but it's possible to try and push it to accept a new angel. If not I may have to trade them both in and look at rainbow sharks.

No idea, doing what your doing sounds like a good idea, if the other one establishes and then try again, but no experience sorry.

Thanks anyway Eternal, I'll be trying anyway :p

Well, it's almost impossible to add one angel that is smaller in size, especially. To add new angels to my tank, I added 3 smaller ones. They're safer in numbers, and my larger angel gave them a bit of a hard time at first but then slowly accepted them and now they are fine. You can keep trying to get them acquainted, but be prepared to bring one or both back to the store. Watch closely too, angels get very aggressive and have been known to even kill new angels.  GL!

I know about being mean and killing each other. Am well aware of this, I have a system to safetly remove an angel for a few hours if it gets too bad. For now am using the net to scare off the big guy away from the little one. Making sure he knows to stay well away from him.

That is exactly what I did lol. I stood guard for a while and every time my large angel moved in aggressively, i broke it up with the net. Sounds a bit silly, but it worked in my instance.

Just keep at it, my friend had one giant angel and added a much smaller koi angel, and they are doing fine now. GL and keep us posted :)

Thanks Greenmaumma, You have given me hope. <3!

Well good  I have found that hope is a very important thing with fishkeeping haha. Sometimes it's all you've got to go on, but it will work out in the end!!

Well for now he's bugging the other angel less. But he's still going for it, I've turned the lights off for tonight as am going out for dinner so am hoping they'll be okay till I get back. At least hes chilling out abit more now.

Told you adding angels to established angels was bad idea... :p

Start with 6 angels and rehome those that don't get on... or buy an established pair.... or set up another tank and good luck to you :p

I said this, I don't want the hassle of holding 6 angels. I'd have trouble selling the rest off, None of my LFS sell proven pairs too there very rare to come by.

Not rare to come by a pair at all, just takes someone with a little fish knowledge :p
