I sent the boyfriend off to B&Q to get me an 80L dustbin for £13... he comes back with a mahoosive 140L wheelie bin for £40 instead

Gunna bore you a bit first with the pic of my RO unit all plumbed in!

And the not so exciting bits... dont buy cheap tanks, kids! lol

But, then I looked at the front..

Nevermind, its better than I expected for the money tbh! Anyway, Its now 1/3 full with a 2nd batch of water being mixed up so I'll be able to put some rock in soon!

Haha, dont worry Woody, I completely agree with you! I hate all these studip 'special' days, a load of commercialised rubbish! Tho I must admit, I didn't mind it this year, my kids dad bought a bottle of vodka for them to give me!

Now I've run into a slight problem. I hadn't even thought about it til I happily placed the lid on my tank.. I do plan to upgrade the lighting, but cant afford to do it in the near furure so have to use the 3x39w T5's that are built into the lid for now.. only problem being is, I completely overlooked this when planning my overflow box for the sump! So now I'm trying to be clever and figure out a way to suspend my lid over the tank! Anyone clever ideas?

Ooh and, I nearly forgot.. we're completely skint now so nothing is gunna happen for a while, but I couldn't resist sending the other half off to the LFS to pick up £20 worth of LR, just so we've atleast got something to look at He should be back soon, my camera is at the ready!!! lol

My first 20kg of LV!

Already spotted lots of snails and shrimp and some horrible looking centipede type thing.. and, er this strange creature.. what on earth is he!?

He was happily climbing up the glass until the flow of the powerhead sent him flying

It's a brittle star, good cuc. Not seen one with 6 legs for a while.

Why dies he have 6 legs.. From 3 minutes research it appears he should have 5!? lol I assume I need to provide him some kind of food since he's not gunna find much to eat in a brand new tank?

I would guess it is a well gifted Male Starfish

Alternatly most prob just a mutation

Nature pops them up every now and again, same as four legged ones. No need to worry.

Oh look... I've been very slack updating this!! I also notice that in my above post I added a pic of my first '20kg of LR' i wish it was 20kg.. rather than the 2kg that it actually was lol!

So anyway. Ive been slowly gathering my LR over the last few weeks. and do now have 20kg Halfway!!!!! WOO!

I'll just show you some pics of how its all looking atm and a bit of life!

is that an algae magnet i see? go carefull with them they can scratch your tank, my reason for removing mine.

yeah it is an algea magnet, i did carefully test a corner first, and it seems ok!

i dont mean to rub it in.. but I have loads of those lil star fish! lol
