Had a scare myself yesterday!!! I'm still not sure how it happened, but I found the lid to my 10g sticking vertically out of the water... I literally yelled "Oh NOoO!!!!!" and went running over lol. everything was fine, and luckily none of the electronics were in the water or wet... phew

Go on! You know you want to ;)

lol I was thinking maybe January, but my swords did not love spending an hour or two in a bucket and now all the leaves are dying off... maybe february haha

Will get some updated pictures in a bit when I have done all the tank maintenance but it seems to be going upside down right now :(

My small tank has taken off in both plants and hair algae and my big tank is starting to go down hill :(

Well.... Updates are needed here lol.
This tank(My little BBG tank) has changed a lot! The plants have taken off since putting the new light on the tank, however - So has Hair Algae

I took LOADS out tonight and then did a waterchange to get the rest out and I have upped the dosage of Easy Carbo to double(as that is still a safe dosage) and the dosage of ProFito so that the plants can fight back and I am adding plants to this tank as I go now.
The grumpy bum himself is happy that his plants are growing now though so if I can get the algae in control then this tank will be sorted.

The tank now - Excuse the bubbles, I wiped the glass down on the inside and had to give some of the plants a good siphon with my small air line tube.

And then there's this. I moved all the cabomba to my small tank as it started suffering in this tank for some reason

I'm planning to get a third light for this tank for the middle. It's not as dark in person as it looks in the photo but it does still need that extra light.

All my plants appear to be slowing down so to speak which is a bit of a shock really since it did so well and then suddenly put the breaks on. It didn't seem to recover properly from moving house though so I can only hope that the extra light will help bring it back round.

Big tank...

On a plus side for the big tank, this little guy has finally decided that he can come out and stay out without being eaten or killed lol.

He's spent the past few months in this tank hiding at the back or behind the filter, only coming out at night and then darting off whenever he saw movement in the room

Today, he stayed sat out in the open while I did the tank maintenance and even let me go near him while I was re-planting a plant he'd uprooted. Definitely an improvement. Even got to see him eat for the first time in months

And finally!

I often get asked what I feed my fish lol.
Well, the big tank get's a mixture.

They get a mixture of Tetra Prima, Tetra Pro Colour and Bloodworm on alternate days. Bloodworm is every two days because my BBG needs feeding every alternate day and one cube is way too much for him as he only eats a few to himself.
The pleco also get's his wafers(a mixture of Carnivorous, Sinking and Algae - All Hikari) on the days that they get Tetra Prima or Tetra Pro Colour.

The photo is of the Tetra Pro Colour because I always get asked what it is. Well, this is what it is! XD

The small tank looks great!
Shame about the hair algae! Hopefully with the extra ferts it will go away.

The bigger tank will look great with the extra light! Hopefully the plants will take off again.

I really wish I liked tropical setups as much as cichlids because your tanks are amazing and is making me rethink the upcoming malawi setup I am planning. I'm starting to think about how I a going to convince my husband that a 75g planted tropical setup is the way to go.

Thank you :)
I like planted set ups but they can be a pain in the butt sometimes!

Well, I have sad news :(

I should have known something was wrong when he started coming out more because it was completely out of character for him.... I woke up this morning to find my Blonde Rubber Lip Plecostomus(Chaetostoma formosae) dead on the bottom of the tank :(

At least he had a good home!

I had him 7 months which, after a quick search, seems to be a good run for him as the whole of that 7 months was struggling to get him to eat something :(

They are well known for being fussy eaters and a lot of people end up losing them within the first 1-2 months so I'm glad I had him for 7 months.
