70L Low-Tech Set Up

I still haven't gone down there yet, I'll see if I can nip down this week.

The Corydoras are showing signs of breeding, the biggest I presume is a female and I measured her to be just under 4Cm, and a little one keeps trying to sniff her belly, sounds like breeding behaviour from what I've read, but they must be too young to do anything.

It's worth it. Still one of my favorite FW fish.

I can't get down to MA at East Bridgeford at the moment, but I did somehow manage to get to Wharf Aquatics today which was random but nice, I went to my Granddad's and he was like, hey do you want to go down there this afternoon? We have nothing else to do, so I was like yeah why not!

Surprise surprise, I found some A.cacatuoides :hyper: ...but they were off-sale, just my #41#### luck!
Anyway, I think I'll nip to East Midlands Aquatics tomorrow (Any excuse to nip by and grab a Subway  ) and get the Gourami's or if I'm lucky enough to find them there, a pair of Apisto's *Crosses everything*

Here's the latest FTS, I had a little melting from the C.nevelii but they've soon bounced back:

I might nip by MA at Trowell too, All of the P.helferi on the right hand side just spontaneously melted :/, the H.polysperma behind the Java Fern is slowly but surely growing, about an inch per week, quite a stark contrast between the rate at which it grew under high tech conditions!

Look at you, making your lfs rounds. :good: Shame about the cockatoos. I love those fish.

By the way, my mom likes your tank. While I was typing she looked over my shoulder and asked, "who's that tank belong to, it's very pretty." :)

My thanks to your Mom :)

Didn't manage to go to the place I was going to go to, so it looks like I'll go either Saturday morning before the football or next week.

I reckon acclimatising via Derby matches is one of the best methods anyway :D

Didn't have time to go yesterday, Derby won, so all is good :D I'll probably go on Wednesday.

A shocking FTS, my mug of tea somehow appeared in the reflection even though it was placed miles away!

I'm quite happy with how everything's filling out, one thing that is going to annoy me though, after further research the C.bullosa is likely to grow taller than the Microsorum, so I might have to reposition the crypts :/

That does stink.

Hahaha, we should pose out tanks with our favorite drinks. That would be a fun thread.

llj

Sounds good, fts with a bottle of JD and a bottle of Jagermeister on the way tomorrow lol.

Well I nearly died earlier when the bus driver asked me for £7.50 for a return ticket to a place I could cycle in 20 minutes, supposedly the council has cut the student subsidy we get for using student cards, anyway, I came back with 3 Honey Gourami's, need a little help with establishing as to whether or not they have wild colouration, maybe Liz could help there? Anyway, I'm pretty chuffed with them, though they dwarf the Ember Tetra's and Corydoras, colouring up nicely though!:

One of them has a black line running down the centre, all of them have black on the underside and yellow dorsal fins.

Just to note the progress with the LED's, latest update:
Just awaiting the arrival of thermal tape and the PSU now, the heat sinks have been fixed into place, and the unit is beginning to come together:

I need to cut the wood to size and then cross brace it and build a box for it to sit in, I think I'll seal the unit with a sheet of acrylic then, the top will have open flap access for any future repairs that need to be done, but the idea is that the LED's and circuit will sit on the long pieces of wood and once together this piece just sits in the box and is screwed into place, then it can just be unscrewed if I need to repair it.

Thread can be found here

If I were you I wouldn't mount the heat sinks on wood, Id mount them on some metal plates and then to the wood.

There are metal washers underneath the heatsinks lifting them away from the wood to allow for heat ventilation, do you think this will be sufficient?

Cant say for sure but I'd think maybe a few washers at least as I dont know how hot those heat sinks get.

they are wild colouration Jack! nice pics mate!
