70L Low-Tech Set Up

Still no habrosus or Apisto's :/, so I came home got on my bike and went for a ride round a small farming village a few miles away, and low and behold there was a sign outside a small cottage saying fish for sale, so I went in and there were a few tanks with fry in and they were selling Corydoras panda fry for 50P each, so I took 6. Riding back with them was a little tricky but they're acclimatising now, they're about 2-3cm big, and I've never kept them before so I thought why not.

Hopefully these breed for me, I've missed having Corydoras!
Whaaaaaaat?! 50p?!

And you took them home on your bike?! the mind boggles!

They were sloshing around in my back pack, made for an awkward ride home though  they're in the tank now, hiding so I can't take photo's

When I saw them I couldn't believe the price, There were about 15 or so of them.

Are you surprised, really?! ;) lol

The man-wife brought me a fish home on the back of his motorbike once...

Here's one of them, the biggest of the 6, the other 5 are scuffling around in the Crypts, apologies for the dirty substrate, but I forgot that Shrimp poo an awful lot!

For comparison the snail is about 4mm in diameter, I guess this one is about 3cm long.

Can i ask why you didn't buy them all? I would have snapped them all up!!

They look really good anyway. :)

I've added 21 fish and 6 shrimp in the past 3 days and didn't want to push my luck, and they get a little bigger than Habrosus too, if they've still got some next week I'll buy 4 more, but I saw some beautiful Honey Gourami's the other day too and they're now on the wishlist instead of going on a wild goose chase for the impossible to find Apisto's.

I found an egg this morning, it was about 1-2mm in diameter but had fungus on it so I siphoned it out, I don't know if it came in with then when I bought them yesterday or what but I doubt any of these are sexually viable yet.

The fish were a good price, it's just that they weren't very good quality, but the Honey Gourami's I saw at East Midlands Aquatics really caught my eye, they were beautiful.

Oh right. Can't fault you really then. Will be nice to see a group of Honey Gourami's though, there isn't enough of them on the forum! :good:

Always liked them, one place I always see them but never buy from is pets @ home, I think they'd look good in there.

Love honey gouramis, tanks lookin good, like the new additions too

Honey gouramis are beautiful. My first planted tank had them. Get the wild coloration if you can. IMO, a male wild colored honey gouramis is such a beautiful fish.

the only place i have seen the wild ones is in MA, and infact they had some of the wild ones in East Bridgford!

I still haven't gone down there yet, I'll see if I can nip down this week.

The Corydoras are showing signs of breeding, the biggest I presume is a female and I measured her to be just under 4Cm, and a little one keeps trying to sniff her belly, sounds like breeding behaviour from what I've read, but they must be too young to do anything.
