7 Foot, 1074 Litres, 284 Gallons.

loving this tank and loving your plans for it. its gonna be gorgeous once its fully stocked.

its coming together slowly, id guess by the end of next year it will be close to completion! i don't want it to end though as i like messing around with it and buying fish!
i am wanting to put a pair of rotkeils in there once they are big enough, i have 10 in a tank upstairs but just growing them on, was going to keep 2 pairs but will probably stick with one pair. thats if i get 1 pair out of the 10! hopefully should do.
so then the other 8 will be for sale as i will have nowhere to put them.
early into the new year there should be some big changes, with the stocking or more like stock additions!

Dave

your tank is filling up fast mate

i have just got the go ahead for my new tank which will start the 2nd week of Jan 8ft long x 4ft wide x 32inch deep lets see all the smart comments of that being over stocked :D

as for the hunt for a dat pulcher I'm picking another one up on Sunday they are not cheap anymore and you wont ever be able to get them again i have probably owned all of the good ones in the UK apart from the one I'm buying but as i said not cheap at £700 :-(

as from 2010 its not allowed to ship even long term captive pulchers from country to country and as they are thought to be extinct in the wild and banned from export from Thailand whats in the UK stays in the UK

well guess i'll have to kiss goodbye to the idea of ever owning a pulcher! its not even the money aspect, it was just finding one in the first place!!
that new tank will be brilliant and can't wait to see pictures of its progress! will you be keeping a bigger group of p14's or just the ones you have now?
don't forget to let me know a date when you will have a/a couple of pups for sale!

might just get a couple more d.microlepis and be happy with that! picking up 2 polypterus endlicheri tomorow afternoon so they should keep me occupied until the rays come, ha

also the oscars are going to have to go, shouldn't of got them in the 1st place really but never mind!

micros are very nice tigers the pics of yours look stable good color

thin bars are my 2nd fav tiger which i have also herd maybe banned next year

the main reason im buying this pulcher at the weekend is im 85% sure its a diffrent sex to mine so you never know i may get lucky

i now have 2 preg female p14 so wont be moving the females to the new tank until the pups are born late feb

i will keep you posted but if you want black rays i will be going to holland soon after the new tank is set up for a few diffrent rays to add to the tank mainly leopoldi and henlei

you are more than welcom to tag along

when would that be? febuary time?
that would be fantastic! just gimme a shout nearer the time! i have noticed the leo's going down in price a little recently, but like you, i prefer the p14's! yeah i do like the micro's, it coloration is very stable and the bars are near perfect, not dots or anything! i was looking at the thin bars which are also my third favourite, after pulcher and micro's. might get one or 2, if i got 2 thin bars id stick to 2 micro's.
how much are leo's from frank in holland now? if money was short for a pair i could just buy a female as males seem to be easier and cheaper to get hold of in the uk than females.
it would be brilliant if i could come along! does he sell the arowana there too or they just as pets?

cheers, Dave

wowsers!
im liking the size odf the tank, seems a bit bare to me though, but i know its still a WIP

hehe maybe you could try making it as planted out as my masterpiece? :)

we have a job starting in holland late march so as long as the new tank is set up and cycled it will probably be early april

pearsondessign; the tank is for rays and tigers and other big fish so plenty of space is needed, especially floor space, so plants and decoration has to be at the up most minimum, this is why the tank looks quite bare, once the rays come it will be even more bare as i will create as much floor space for them as possible. my tank isn't really set up for your average community fish as yours is,plus. that silver shark will grow too big for that tank!
i prefer minimalist set ups as opposed to fake wood and plants.

T1, thats fine mate, will you just let me know nearer the time, and i will amke sure i can go and not come back empty handed!! would love to see your new work in progress so make sure to do a journal somewhere along the lines!!

Dave

ive had this tank setup for over 2 years now, and the silver shark was there from the start. i dont see him getting too big for the tank for a number of years yet, when he does he will move to my 8foot community setup :)

cant wait to see the rays in yours

i cant wait either lol
i cant wait until next year if i get the chance to go over to holland with T1 to pick my very own leopoldi!!
the tank its self probably won't change too much but as the rays get bigger some of the wood etc will be removed to accommodate them, its a good job i don't mind minimalistic tanks isn't it! if i got the leo's i would take absolutely everything out to accommodate them as they get bigger than the retics plus there is always a chance of injury to rays with tank decor and that wouldn't be good!
going to pick up my 2 new polypterus endlicheri later on so i will try and get some pictures up of them!

Dave

well..... no!
they didn't send any, am a bit peed off!
they sent 2 delhezi's and an ornatipinnis!
i sent you a pm anyway but i took an ornatipinnis and a delhezi so there is still a del there for you.
i come to the conclusion that i am not going to be able to afford the decent asian aro i wanted so i have settled for a silver, suppose it will go with the other south american fish i have! its about a foot long and cost me £45 so not too bad, its like a metallic blue colour so im quite happy with it, although i know this will fade one day lol
i will take pics later or tomorrow, the bichirs are around 4" at a guess, i havent payed for my two so i never got an exact price but im sure the del's are still £20, if you get there and see it and don't want it for some reason don't worry cos i'll go get it lol. the reed fish are about 9" and £7 each and theres about 6-8 i think.

Dave

more pictures!

these are the silver arowana i picked up on thursday, didn't eat thursday or friday but this morning i got it some crickets and it ate some and it ate some of the cichlid pellets too, going to have to get some propper arowana sticks for it, but all is well so far, was a bit skinny but has a bit of a belly now so its looking good.

just the latest full shot of the tank,
fulltankshot12-09.jpg

abd just a quick picture of the 3 little pink tailed characins i picked up yesterday, these will join my big pink tailed characin once they are 5-6" so got a bit to go yet! i couldn'#t get a clear shot as they are in my smaller tank and its dim lit and slightly blackwater.

i can get a trio of 4"+ cutteri cichlids on monday but the only tank they could go in is this big one but i don't know if they would be ok with the stocking so don't know what to do!!

oh and if anyone knows of or see's any polypterus endlicheri for sale, any size, decent price could you give me a shout please!!

cheers, Dave
