Yeah, the thread you might be thinking of says something along the lines of you don't have to add ammonia as the plants will cycle the tank alone if you have enough of them. I think it's called a silent cycle? I'm not sure.

Yea cant remember exactly.i read quickly as i was already cycled but was reading lots of stuff at the time!

Let things settle for a bit now (i know its hard), but the plants need to get used to the new environment. Well done!

I am def letting them settle in now.but actualy the other plants i had a few weeks ago had fantastic roots growing which i am very happy about.
Would u recomment getting root tab ferts of some sort or are they not needed? I know some plants get some of their nutrients from the water, will mine be ok without them as im dosing my own ferts?

all plants prefer to get their nutrients from the water column, it takes less energy for a plant to do it this way in the water. It takes a lot of a plants energy to do so via the root. It never hurts to use root tabs, you never know if your going to miss a dose of ferts. It certainly isn't essential though

Oh thats interesting i thought only some, thanks! I am good at dosing atm as obsesed with the tank.my lights go on about 2 and i put in ferts when i get home at half 6, lights out about 10 11 when i go sleep. Should i get a timer to regulate as sometimes its longer.no probs with algae yet (wait for the posts soon) fingers crossed.

Well one plants died but i expected more as not got my new higher lighting yet. Main plants all stil good!want them to grow!
I have so far remembered to dose every morning

Ye getting 2 x 54w bulbs hopefully make it better! As my tank is a custom made tank i have a wooden lid i can use any ballast on
