5 Hours Later...

Oh silly shop people! grrr!! I was going to get the TPN+ then though I got a decent deal on this as he reccommended it and gave £5 off. So I can use this and buy TPN+ as well and it will all be ok yes? Sorry for all the Q's!! I am going to look at the diy option but I want to get my tank up and running properly before I play around with them and thought buying the stuff would just be easier!

Yep using both would be fine but tbh i wouldn't really use the excel unless your going to dose high and this isn't going to be cheap for such a big tank. As i said the more you dose excel the more the plants will require nutrients.

Ive only ever used liquid carbon on smaller tanks with co2 demanding plants, this works out quite cheap to do when your dosing little amounts.

If i remember correctly, your lighting isn't that high? and your plants are quite easy plants to grow and low maintenance?. I would just dose the TPN+ myself and either resell the excel on here or keep it as a spot doser incase persistent algae arises.

I'm not sure what to suggest for definite lol, the excel really isn't needed for your setup as far as i can see and it may actually cause more problems than it's worth if you don't get the dosing correct.... this would probably be a lot of the product and if you still want to use it after the bottle is finished, could work out extremely expensive. Over time....it may actually be more cost effective to just go and buy or make your own Co2 kit lol.

Hope all that made sense lol, sort of does in my head.....

Yep made sense :) TBH not even sure what my lighting is, think I posted it earlier in this thread. I will leave the excel then for now! What a waste of money! Haven't even got money to buy anything else until Friday now. Thanks for the help! I am taking it all in :) I shouldn't impulse buy!!!

Got my External Filter this morning just as I left for work! Can't wait to get home and set it all up, say goodbye to the internals!!!

Got the external set up so no more internals! :yahoo:

I have the spray bar on one side and the intake tube the other is that right? Was hoping to give as much circulation as poss!

Got to get some higher lighting as figured out I have way too low lighting!
The CAE is causing havok in my tank so can't wait until he goes and I can let the plants settle properly!! Ordering ferts and more plants tomorrow so they will come in a couple weeks time! Any suggestions on good plants to get to go with the ones I have?

LOL The SAE still giving you grief?, im sure you will find it a good home soon hun :)

Yay CAE is gone :) peace has been restored! I have just placed an order or some new plants and ferts due to come next week, from plantedtanks. Am leaving my tank until next week when I will most likely move everything around to get it looking a little better! Toying with the thought of removing a piece of the bogwood but not overly sure yet. Don't think I like the piece streatching up the top, but I like the height it gives. Any ideas greaty received :)

I had my plants arrive from planted tanks yesterday so I had a complete overhaul on my tank. Everything came out except fish and sand (and water of course). Did a really good vacuum of the sand and then moved it round to make sure no air pockets were hiding!! Then came the fun part! I thought I would change where the wood was positioned. Also I had an Anubias Nana I bought a week ago still in its pot so I attached it to the bogwood. The same with some java fern I got from a guy on here that I hadn’t attached yet.
I bought quite a variety of pants, mainly to bump my order up to get the free delivery :) but also to try them out and see if I can make them work. If they fail I am not too worried. The list is;
Pygmy Chain sword
Dwarf sag
Dwarf hairgrass
Tonina
Cryptocorne parva
Pogostemon helferi
Vallis
Radicans sword
Blyxa Japonica

Some are quite small so can’t really see them in the pics! Am hoping they will grow. My light unit is broken and I am thinking a few of them are going to die before I can even buy new plants. Sadly it broke yesterday, it only works if someone holds the wires, my BF is standing off pic holding them while I take pics :) haha

My pup wanted in on the action haha!!!

My camera still isn’t the best, it seems to take in too much light and makes the pictures too bright, the sand just comes up too yellow.

Lastly my first bottle of Ferts I made mysef :D

not that you wanted to see that haha

I wasn’t sure where to position things and my BF was cooking food (I have him trained well) and I was rushed a little. The hairgrass isn’t as spread out as I would have liked but hopefully it will grow!

Any criticism will be taken well :)

Just seen some not rotated even though I rotated them in photobucket - sorry

I'm jealous!

That looks so good! And I'm sure your fertilizer is of commercial quality. ;)

Now, I have to beat you and make my tank look better.

i think we should start tank wars haha

It's on!

I should get a head start as I have to cycle my tank without mature media :(

:p

Looks good! And you seem to have bought the right amount of plants too; it already looks quite full.

i wanted to try lots of different plants to see how they went. there is quite a lot of space in the midle still but hopefully things will grow in

well josh i will just tell my plants not to grow until u say so... does that work :)

It will have to do.

I really should get my plants bought soon, and my ferts. Stupid people on eBay should have been satisfied with my iPod and let me keep my £97

Looks like I'll have to wait or use a credit card! :p
