4Ft (286Litre) 'planted' Tank

Four months between cleans isn't bad at all :)  I've always found that artificial plants get black crud on them, but in much smaller tanks of course.

Yeah, i love em...if the lights are on too long they are a sod to keep clean lol. And like real plants, good flow helps keep them clean

So the tank as it is now......yes there is 2 extra goldies in there, i had to pull them from the outside tank until i can either buy a new filter or setup something else (old filter died and sucked up the orange oranda *sad* so only Boofer in outside tank for now )

Due for a plant clean again...

I went to feed the goldies tonight and a white flash zoomed along the back of the tank....huh??? Anyway, i stood there and watched like a hawk and what do i spy?? A juvie albino BN. How the devil it got in there i have no clue!

Wow!

Is that a good or bad thing for you?

it is after all pretty much a free albino bn

Its not a bad thing, just curious how it got in there lol

I might even add a few more juvies, they can do algae duties

This tank is beautiful! I have never seen fake plants and goldies look so good! #Jealous

Loving the current rescape aswell! So do you keep BN's how did he manage to get in there? Thats crazy!!!

Thank you :)

I breed BN :) But nothing from the Albino/Commons tanks has gone into the goldies tank....tis a mystery as i have absolutely no idea how it got in there

As this little dude (BN) is growing nicely, i think i'll add a few more to grow out, so i can sell them on :)

The tank is heading for a rescape....got a plan, just gotta get the time to get in there and do it, but it will be happening lol

The goldies are growing nicely and i want them to be able to utilise more of the tank room, so plan is to remove quite a bit of the plants and wood. I will, if possible, be going back to using some live plants for this tank.

This weekend i will be starting the full rescape, I've bought some of the plants for the tank, others will be needed though. I will pull the piece of wood from the pond on the weekend that i am looking to use in here, it will need a scrub up to remove algae buildup and any waterbourne nasties that may have hopped on board.

The Goldies will be staying in residence while i rescape, as will the BN, Apple snails and Cherry shrimp, they dont mind me mucking around in there. Three of the goldies, Eragon, Rudolf & Calic, will be moving back outside once it starts to warm up a bit (too cruel to move them now, from a heated tank to an unheated in the height of winter)

So upated pics should be up sometime over the weekend

Exciting! Can't wait to see what ya do with it. Since you're moving three of them once it warms up, are you going to get more goldies or leave it be? :)

I may add a new one, but depends if something really catches my eye :)

I would really like some ranchus

While I agree with you Alasse, Black gravel does really show of the colours of fish compared to lighter coloured gravel or sand.

Not in all cases......in this tank i much prefer the look of the lighter coloured substrate. The black just didnt look as good, and seeing i actually have a black fish in this tank, i never saw him at all, defeats the purpose of having him lol

So just about to start changing this around.....i'll be back lol

As it is now...(not finished completely, and quite a few 'spare' plants floating around that are for another tank)
