The trip to MA on saturday sore me come home with a few selected bits of wood 10 mirco rasbora and 4 Red Crystal Shrimp. all the fish have settled in well lots of cracks and caves etc for them to hide in. Got the moss thown in for free always good.
Going to be adding one of 2 small plants later in the week. not sure what yet tho.

Looks nice B-)

Are you planning on densely planting the tank at all or are you leaving it with just wood and a couple of plants?

i really like that look are you going
to plant some plants as a back drop

could some one give me the fishes full name, I no its a mirco rasbora but dont not the full name. (only clear pic I could get of one of them)

hahah cool :D another one lol - my tank actually had a problem with the scape so isnt looking as great now lol. One of the pieces of wood always grew this fluffy mould on it but I couldnt remember which it was and it was one I added so had to take it out and bin it but I can fix it no probs. My fish are doing pretty well :D

Right slight bit of bad news Im afraid.... those are the wrong Micro rasbora those are chilli rasbora that need 25c+ where as the badis need no higher than 22c max but the Galaxy rasbora are ideal for that temperature range

But your tank does look awesome :D - perhaps you could get a different species of badis that can thrive in the higher temperatures but Im not sure which species will do that.

Cheers. I am really happy with how the tank looks. So glad i spent the time in MA playing around with the wood pile trying different thing (strange looks from the very buisy shop were well worth it)
would have normally just picked up a hand full of wood, payed for it then hated it when i set it up.

i am usure what to do planting wise.
My sand really is not very deep barely 1cm so its going to be tuff. Think i will just get a load of jarva fern and tie it to the wood may be a little Anubias and a load of moss every ware as well.

Cheers wills that pic is very deseving tho they are fairly clear in color looks red in that pic tho, I will try get another pic. I dont think they are chillies tho. smaller and not the right color.

have a look on here http://www.franksaquarium.com/nanofish.htm its an american fish webshop but the pics are acurate. I think yours might be the pheonix rasbora?

The problem is that most if not all of the red micro rasbora come from the hotter waters where as myanmar which is where the pyjama badis are from is much cooler. Fish classed as Micro Danio are actually better suited to this.

You are spot on with the Pheonix rasbora. They look a little lighter then the colors in the pic (gessing they will color up as they get used to the tank and age). From what they chap said at MA they prefer the lower temps like the galaxy rasboras. If it comes to it i have 15 galaxys in my main tank. Cant find anything on the net to suggest what temps they actually prefer.

Ah right that actually sounds like a pretty good option to me :) I would swap your Pheonix rasboras for the Galaxies and get the galaxies used to the low temperatures for the Badis :)

The site Ive been using for info is Seriously fish which is a great profile site put together by a really good team and pretty acurate - also fish base which is the high science side of stuff also records the micro rasboras (ie the red species and others) as 25 degree + and then micro danios (ie celestial pearl and a few others) as 20-22 degrees.

Not going to slate MA for giving that advice as it is something I was unaware of a few weeks ago but I do think its valuable information for long term care of these fish.

Arrrrh nips I du h8 it when u get things rong. Recon I will have to take the phoenix back then. I think my 2 koi angels are getting to the sort of size now were anything smaller then my galays will just get eaten for lunch(or dinner). how many galaxies du you think I could stock in my badis tank. Going to up the numbers of the shrimp to maybe 10 and I would like 1m 4f badis using a fluval u1 internal as well. Weekely 50% water changes as well.

One question i will ask wills is what am i supossed to be feeding the pheonix rasboras. i have tried micro slow sinking waffers, flake food and sinking algea waffers all with no success. The shrimp are not a problem as they had a little go on everything. Dont want to starve the little rasboars.
I am taking a trip to a new very large aquatic shop tomoro so advice would be great.

O never mind just had the thought to smush a few waffers up into a fine dust. Turned of the filter and dropped in the dust. Currently watching them eat the dust.
