330L Tank Journal

haha cheers guys but i still getting algae problems and would like the gone before i look at TOTM

Very nice update.

Just update the sig pic, and I'll be happy. ;)

hahaha ye i am getting round to that :) trying to find a nice pic to update it as think i get one today, but again another update and my algae is giving me more questions than answers at the moment, so i bought some new plants, more DHG, and some liquid co2 going to start dosing that as of today

okay so firstly my plants, the new ones i have bought are

Echinodorus parviflorous - very nice small plant kinda looks like lettuce

Hygrophila mini

Marsilea crenata

also there was the DHG i got two more tubs you will see the difference between the new and the old in my tank
wacko.png
not sure why mine look so bad other than algae

and a random of my tiger barbs

sorry for multiple posts didn't let me do it one BUT, i have a few questions you can see in the picture the Blue rock that is red in patches, that is the algae that is supposedly dead, BUT about 10 mins later the rock is back to Blue and no more red? HOW? is more the question how can it go from red to blue in minutes and no the fish did not have a frenzy and eat it all, also, i am not 100% sure that the algae i have is BBA as when i spot dose liquid co2 i spot dosed nearly 3 or 4 times the daily amount it did today naughty but i have been watching fish and they are fine, now only some algae has gone red, most stayed normal? so dose staghorn go red (die) with liquid co2?

cheers for looking and enjoying this journal :) love this tank hows it growing :)

forgot to upload this pic

Looks great.  Nice branch!

11 Green Tigers (according to sig). ;)

yep i have 11 green tiger barb's but i was given a free normal orange striped tiger barb so technically i have 12 now
smile.png

so went to the LFS and got more fish, i bought 12 Siamese Flying fox's but the shop gave me 13 they where called but to be honest i think they are probably the Fake siamese flying fox's but sadly with my high co2 i almost lost them all, i guess my co2 was just to great for them to adjust quickly but i managed to save around 9 of them managed to take 3 back to the LFS i lost 2 as they went into the filter and i binned them by accident
sad.png

but they gave me 3 more, and the extra tiger barb as they where not convinced it was the fish but i told them it was
wink.png
hehe so ye but any how i bought some phosphate test kit as well and some anti phosphate and nitrate for the filter and ye they don't work
tongue2.gif
but hey got some carbon and O.M.G carbon works very well at clearing the dirty water
smile.png
and no i will not replace this every month or so il keep it as long as it keeps my tank clean don't care about its chemical take up ability
smile.png
as i don't put in any chemicals

so here is the before and after
smile.png

Before

and After

and here is some pics of the new fish i love how these fish lye on things' they lay on my rock, sand and the amazon sword look so cute

and i love my pleco some times the wired and wonderful places he gets into

the sad thing was when i tried to save the 13 fish from dying i had to tare up most of my plants to get to them so i took the opportunity to cut up all my cabomba and overgrowing plants and distribute them better i also when buying the fish i noticed AN EXTREMELY good plant section in the LFS i have never seen a plant section like it, funny enough they use co2 in there planted tank's the first LFS i have seen that, they had fish in it snails a month other things but not a drop of algae, and the plants where lush green and mostly huge. so i bought some vallis not the twisty kind just normal vallis looked huge between 15 an 17" tall lovely looking vallis for 5 bunches for like £6 i could not resist
smile.png
and here is the mess and the amount of cabomba i have it is astonishing how quick that grows

thats not all peeps
smile.png
today i have got my self some videos, now i am not sure what my tiger barbs are doing but it is a male and a female lip locking spiralling and what looks like spawning behaviour or what i think is the male trying make the female ready but she is not having it, what is funny, is they look like two school kids fighting and my RTS is a teacher breaking them up haha there are6 videos i am uploading not all of the tiger barbs of my other fish and tank in general, hope you enjoy them

the first video was taken with my normal lense and the rest where taken on my macro lens so i apologise for the focus and blurriness of some parts

Ha! The red-tailed shark should be wearing black and white stripes as a referee! Nice tank!

hahaha yes i know i was thinking more the tiger barbs are little naughty kids and the RTS is the father :p lol giving them a slap haha so funny :)

I love Tiger barbs! Crazy fish!
Love the rescape too! Tank is looking awesome!
Why have you made a homemade filter intake and ouput?

was getting pissed of with mountains of the pipe lying around and was getting heavy and like pinching at points, plus the intake and outtakes looks hideous like stained yellowy colour, not keen on the grey was trying a fixed method worked in my head, dosn't look to good tho :( maybe the smaller 12/16mm pipe wouldn't look so bad and maybe if i painted it black but ye cba to fixing it now my new tank will have clear plastic lily pipe style pipes but without the Lilly bit :p oh and the spray pipe didn't work with my co2 was not distributing it good enough how i liked it its better using just an open ended pipe and pushing it onto the powerhead helps a fair bit too
