So a little update one things since I haven't done one in ages. I'll get pictures up tomorrow since it's lights out already. Anyways, today Skeet Skeet made me curious on why my GSP hasn't been growing as much as I wanted it to. I found the culprit and it turns out my Alkalinity and my Calcium levels are lower than the norm. My alkalinity is currently at 5-6dKH and my Calcium is at 340 (very low). Anyways, in the next few days I'll be looking for tools to make my own batch of alkalinity and calcium supplements as its too expensive to buy it from my LFS.
Not much change on my tank though. After the recent upgrade on my lighting I've noticed a tiny patch of hair algae and cyano growing on the back of my tank, nothing that can't be scrubbed off. I need to get more snails for my clean up crew since they're sadly dying off, last count I had 1turbo snail and one astrea snail and also my cleaner shrimp. Given that it's a 30gallon thats pretty low. I've made some changes to the look of my tank by changing the background from blue to black. The blue poster board not being water proof got wet and was fading in color, so I stopped by the local market and bought a 'heavy duty' one thats much more thicker and is made from foam. I got over my aiptasia problem that I had last week by zapping it with some home squeezed lemon juice. I'm trying to get an update on another thing thats i've noticed on my rock. I asked some people on MSN on their thoughts but I've come to the conclusion that it must be a harmless polyp, once it starts becoming a noticeable problem I will take action but for now its not doing much harm. Another thing I changed with my tank is that I 'built' a cover made up of egg crate, took me ages to get the right fits for the wires, filter, light etc. In the end I'm extremely happy with the results. It's much more easier for me to take the cover off now. Before I used the old hood that came with the tank it was a tight fit but worked for the time being then I noticed that with the hood and the lights on there a substantial amount of light being blocked by it. So I changed to egg crate much more light can go through the holes and onto my coral.
I will try and post some pictures tomorow...
