so, definatley going with the saint thomas mushrooms and the zoanthids, and if i scrounge enough by the time in feburary ( end of janurary for wood to be redon, then move tank, setup, cycle,transfer for maybe 2-3 weeks) and if i srounge by then and report cards due (got a 101% in environmental, and overall grade is an A so at least 33$ lol ) then i could also grab some florida mushrooms.


while i think this out i could also eventually get ricordeas too and have both a zoanthid garden and a huge (each type of coral im getting is at least 10 different colored specimen) mushroom collection on opposite sides of tank

im thinking that corals stocking is going to be more on the softy side than anything else

well, absolutedley nothing has happened, except for the fact the 20 is in such bad shape that GSP refuses to come out.

fixing that with a near 100% water change, and a salinity boost (.21 atm which is reallly low, upping to .26)

also moving the tank downstairs into the basement because the bonus literally just came in which means bills,floors,tank,pool!!!

otherwise everything is fine, there are mushrooms and zoos all over the rock, cheato,and glass. and i have a new branching corraline algae which makes everything look pwetty :3


butttt im switching over to the planted side fund wise for the moment just to have it out of the way once and for all. also dad is covering the expenses on the first couple of coral orders n e ways, by the time i need to start buying stuff ill have $$ well into the hundreds and maybe a job.

other than that things are guud grades are falling off a cliff (AAAAAA) and its spring so theres raspberries bluberries black berries strawberries and potatoes growin. tennis is great im still getting nervous but ive managed to break the top 250 and i think i made frenemy out of it as well haha

so hope things are going good in everyone elses tanks and everyone is having a good time.

being a bit bad, logging in from my school

but just saying im doing the water change today, one bucket is at 1.030 and the other two are around the 1.022 mark, the tank is at 1.023. if im right that im supposed to get around the 1.026 mark would i be ok WCing with the more similar water then topping off with the more salty one till the SG is at the proper level? if i screw up i have 5G of RO standing by

also will try moving the mushrooms into less turbulent water, as thats what i think, along with the poor water quality, is whats making them unhappy for all this time.


also ive had a "frag" of GSP but its never ever had polyps. would enough TLC grow that out on the frag plate or would just be a waste of time?

other than that things going well, floor people came to set up a quote so it should be done soon, then do another wc and while i do that i take the 20 to the basement. im going to buy another light for that tank, probably a 2 bulb T5HO fixture, think that would suffice for a 20 tall?


lastly another not so small problem presents itself, in the hours of haggling for a cheap price my dad failed to mention that the light we got is not a 6 bulb or 4 and MH fixture, but only 4 bulbs and some LEDs.... puts a rather big chunk of my coral list in concern. would i be able to keep a clam with that? or at least some SPS?

all im gonna say is, 90 gallon is going to be full and cycling by tomorrow, the rock is already in the tank and water level covers it, just fill it up a bit more and were in business. theres already a hithhiker, some turqouise squshiy thing that looks like a mushroom or a sponge.

however this calls into mind of stocking again, and now im being pushed from mom, me , and the lfs guy about what to put

mom wants color

lfs suggests 2 tangs, or something yellow, suggested switchng powder brown for gold rim or lemon peel, then getting a kole tang

I just want a long nose hawk fish, mandarin goby, a tang and a wrasse

sooo heres what i got hopefully for the last time..

these fish i already have and cant be removed/switched out
clown pair (ocilleris)
firefish
bangaii cardinal pair (only one so far)

these fish i dont have, but im pretty dead set on
gold rim tang or powder brown tang
longnose hawkfish
mandarin goby

these fish are up for debate
canary blenny
flame angel
leopard wrasse (switched from long fin fairy)
trio of ignitus anthias (these im iffy on just cuz of the feeding regime, if anything ill replace these with the long fin fairy and a small tang and call it a day)



ive got you guys and the lfs for advice, and again this is going to be terribly horrendously slow, along with QT

thanks for the tip sorgan ill take it into account after this problem with the sump is over (ill do one here and repost this in a help thread)

its already flooded

and right now it LOOKS stable, or the water level is just slowly going down

heres the sump layout before i ask questions

first chamber has two holes for filter socks and like its supposed to only have the overflow output on it

the second chamber is the refugium and that is ok

the third chamber is filled via a waterfall cascade from the second, and has a spong or something, there is a sticker that says water level but the water level is wayyy above that

the fourth chamber is filled via holes in the bottom of the third and contains the protein skimmer pump, and the protein skimmer, the return pump would not fit in there so its outside and connected by piping into the fourth, i have no idea where the water level is supposed to be on that, currently it s 3/4 from the top

the skimmer and return is ON
skimmer bubbles are half way up to the collection cup
noise is coming from the weir, the bubbles, and pumps, mostly the weir


now the lfs after i called basically said to not fill the tank up past the weir, more halfway up the slits. then he said to lower the water level (take out water) from the fourth chamber until its 2/4 from the top. if we ever put in more water we have to do it from the tank itself and not the sump??




and then for later when we move the rock from the 20 into the 90 do we take out water before hand or after wards or while we move it??

happening since setup, my dad gets back in 10/9 days, if things still hold up then we transer everything over, cheato and 20g sand goes into fuge, if anything ill move a small gsp frag over, i moved a small zoo frag over at the start, seems to enjoy life despite the initial no-acclimation plunge.


also got 2 aips, prolly deal with those sooner than later.

and sorry about no pictures, camera is still not working so i have no place to put down current pictures.
