everythings going good so far params are great water is clear and not a hint of algae in sight. ive upped the feedings for the fish to at least twice a week up to 3 times a week instead of once on sunday. clowns are really growing up tbh theyre starting to get a little brown on top like i usually see with the adults at the stores and in pics (imo).

big tank is on hold till december since we spent a crapload of $ on the fridge that seems to be possesed with the power to spew ice at any given moment.

also with the little critters:
my CUC of astreas has been dropped to 2 individuals and the one nerite that survived the move, my new CUC is actually a bunch of hitchhiker snails and what seem to be tiny turbo and astreas. the hitch hiker snail is something steph told me about but i cant remember their name.

also got pink and green coralline growing and i think some blue on the mushie motherock, purple on the old zoa rock.

brittle star count is now at 3, i personally feed the black and white one tho :D.

tube worms doing good now i have 3 as well and the original has grown well, overshadowed by the mushies though since they get like 4-4.5" diameter.

GSP is coming out of its slump finally

annnd i think thats it :good:

p.s braces still stink, and the fact they installed an appliance in my mouth means ill be talking like a guy with a lisp while eating for 6 months, fun fun fun....

Over dramatic! :p It'll go away in a couple weeks.

sorry guys about the complete lack of updates, pictures and overall progress, like i said before saltwater is under the control of The Prices Are Too #41#### High Party (just a quick joke if you guys have seen the new york debate)also known as dad.

anyway whats happened so far is that the clowns now have a slight size difference and have gotte darker over on their top halfs and the firefish, got bigger lol.

coral wise the watermelon zoos are doing great and the clam seems to have found an enjoyable spot so no more moving, the original zoos are beggining to meld together and have started to recolonize their mother rock, the GSP is doing fine. however there is a strange thing going on with the mushrooms, the top 3 are around 5" in diameter so obvoiusly they are shading out the 4" ones underneath them, causing them to find other spots so at the moment one has ended up behing the scape, and another is about to fly off, my bird decided to eat my pinky (theres a hole i dont mean it ate my pinky lol) so i couldnt really do anything for this week but its almost healed so maybe tomorrow ill move the mushie. also have around 5 new mushrooms growing in smallest at around .25"

invert wise, the pink thngs are everywhere now, theres pink and green coralline everywhere, the black and white starfish is getting bigger, 6 stomatella snails are doing a great job, done to one last astrea snail and that one nerite who ill dub steve, have 2 turbo snail babies and the rest are stomas, all white starfish is doing ok,and to my surprise i still have 2 adult nassarius snails which i saw strolling around yesterday after not seeing them for months, still have the tiny ones as well.

and one more sorry, since i cant do much with this tank other than change the water and feed the fish, my attention has shifted back to my 55 since i actually have money to get stuff.

HOWEVER, to end on a high note, while picking up trash along the river for a co-op thing with the enviromental club and the french honor society in an organization called rivers alive, someone managed to find a ______, and i asked if i could keep the _______. i gave the _______ to my teacher that likes that sort of stuff and said that there is a chance it could be from the civil war.

heres the ______ and yes i had special permission from the police officer to bring it to school

P.S im still talking like a derp.

holy crud was this a while ago!

anyway tank is fine had a bit of a hair algae revolt on a small bit of LR but it actually looks good so ill leave it there -_-

also the mushrooms are so big that the highest up mushroom (measuring at 4.5" diameter) caused some underneath him the jump ship and they ended up in the back of the tank, this made me to dissmantle the scape entirely and get them out of there because i like to keep things NEAT UND TIDY. before doing this i hed the bright idea to collect a bsic frag kit to frag them with along with some other stuff coming up. so now i have 4 frags of purple mushroom on a dead snail shell and a small hunk of LR. my next target is to split up my 3 zoo varitions on the clam so i can have 3 good colonies of watermelon, crosshairXpurple, and green zoos. ill get frag plugs for these and have them placed on the sand to get a more covered effect.

also sooner or later or if the gun turns out to indeed be from the civil war (cha-ching!) ill be ordering:
more xenia
ST. thomas mushrooms
legend of evil zoanthids (deep deep purple)
evil eye zoos
fire and ice zoos
king midas zoos (yellow)
nuclear eclipse zoos (green)
solar flair zoos
neon green clove polyps
metallic blue zoos
blue daisy zoos
new lights
rics
acans
bubble coral
IDK what else

BUT BUT BUT
like i said this is really slow but ill prolly end up buying the tank off my dad and adding a sump to gve me more room in the display for all these corals lol.

ALSO
i have no idea if the 65 tank is going to happen at all or not, it is expected to happen during the holiday season (along with a pool, a theatre, and christmas) so you can see my skepticism is quite valid, but if it does happen im taking nemos idea of custom LR and i will construct "spires" with ledges to provide a unique look, good flow, and lots of places for coral, as well to keep unfriendly coral away from others.

which is why imfragging my coral, for income (not to mention they are growing too dam fast) to make this possible and since i cant have a conventional job ill have to settle with selling coral off the internet and to LFS and trading.

so watch this thread i promised not to dissapoint and i intend to keep that promise

You left before I had the chance to show you something. I can't post it on here as it is a forum link. Remind me next time you see me :)

well frag didnt go according to plan they have not attatched yet -_-

BUT i dd have a run in with the lfs and i have to change the title of the thread cuz the tank is being bumped up to at least a 75 if not a 90 gallon tank :yahoo:

also noted that the owner just got his hands on sympodium which i heard from (someone) that they are a great coral to get......

also noticed some wierd flourescent zoos that i might be able to pick up next weekend as well as frag my zoos

ok update for the week before corals come hopefully.

everyone is fine as always but i seem to be seeing much more brittle stars than before, but thats fine because my pet starfish is pretty easy to pick out lol.

moved a piece of LR and guess who decded to show their faces? my peppermint shrimp! lol i havent seen them in forever i thought they were clownfish muchies, but thats still cool they are alive

hitchiker feather duster has gotten quite big looking at old photos.

got some more of the protists growing around as well as red corraline algae appearing and a tiny spot of yellow

lost the very last of the CUC snails, left with the nerite and all the baby snails and stomatellas. jeez that snail has been with me for ever he deserves a name ill post some suggestions and have you guys vote.
i think ill pick up some turbo snails next time i visit imgoing to guess 3 for now since the tank is very clean (a few understandable dimesized algae patches)

now that for once i have both tanks under control and nothing is going wrong *knock knock* its time to focus on the future!

since i like guidelines and im no rush to break the stocking barrier just yet (hint hint wink wink)
75/2=37-38 inches definite fish being
clowns
firefish
tail-spot blenny ( a healthy one this time)
mandarin goby
flame angel
bangaii cardinal
long fin fairy wrasse
longnose hawkfish (ill put my starfish in the sump)

leaving 7-8" left or 15" if i get a 90 and im thinking......

tomini or yellow bristle tooth or powder brown tang as the last fish for both tanks

or

black cap jawfish
jester goby
trio of ignitus anthias (i couldnt find anything purple other than royal grammas and some wierd dotty backs =/)
for 90

jawfish
goby
for 75

sooo big fish or several small fish? i think reef cant be complete without either a tang or a school of fish (and clownfish :good: ) ill also put that on as a poll

btw my dad did confirm a date for the tank : january, and hes actually approved this stuff so its the planning* (not the coral....but i think i could get past that)

* = theres ALWAYS room for change but i think(hope) this is the last time lol

also forgot to mention that LFS has a clarion angel in their 400+ main display and a mcullogh clown in a smaller 30g and a customer there has a 1000 gallon tank that is using my LR column idea with success

pictures

my tank needs a water change lololol or maybe a de snailer?

and does anyone notice their clownfish acting like drunk fools when you turn the lights on after they went to bed? lol it was funny i got scared for a bit they are fine this morning

sleeping clownfish is sleeping

ive decided that until water stats have no nitrates again (its at 10 now which is why i think ive not done well with fragging mushies ) that ill frag, plus i have to figure out ho to get that rock outta there since its enormous

steve the snail, i like it lol
and i guess its the tang then lol

edit* god i need to learn how to take good pics with the saltwater tank lol mine stink!

*sigh*

despite what some fool has posted im going to just go on with i was gonna say

so, yesterday i was feeding the mushrooms, starfish, and the fish of course and i remembered that there was a snail shell attached to the scallop. so i decide to try and remove it so that whenever i get around to liberating the scallop from the zoanthids it wil be able to move. i was able to get it off easily but turns out there were still zoanthids atached to it (along with a big brown squishy mass) so now i have 3 ceramic discs with 1 polyp on each, and a snail shell with one polyp on them, 2 have opened so far and fromthe looks of it ive got 1 watermelo and 1 purple/coffee colored one, the 3 on the discs were out of the water for a good 30 minutes so im not surprised if the others dont open up until maybe tomorrow or something. i also wedged one up right next to the trunk of one of the mushrooms to see if i can finally get a frag cuz the ones on the shell got eaten by something and the one on the small LR has yet to attach (2.5 weeks so far, and it has a foot and everything)

heading to lfs today for some water and something else (ill post that in the coral. invert section :hey: )

well unfortunately the palys i wanted were not for sale and the last frag of sympodium was gone (more in a few weeks) so no new corals

all my zoo frags opened up tho, got 3 waterelons and 1 coffee with white stripes

yes the tank needs a WC and top off which ill do today, as well as a nice salt creep cleaning)
pics.

Guess the GSP listened to your firefish there.

Zoas look like they have nice color.
Tank lookin good GAB

BTW why the water level so low?? EDIT: Oh you said you need to top off. That's a lot of water you need to top off

yeah i know i usually never let it get this low but we ran out of RO water and we couldnt pick any up till yesterday.

stats:
temp: 77 (down from 78)
ph: 8.4
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate : 10
phosphate: 0
SG: 1.022 (down from 1.026)

nothing a few weeks of 50% water changes can sort out :D
then drop down to 25 when its 0

also found out that mushrooms cant hold onto the rock really well when i was cleaning debris off them one got sucked into the bucket. now its on yet another ceramic disc fastened by a rubberband

4 zoo frags and 3 mushie frags

btw i intentionally did the zoos with just one polyp so 1. i can see the actual colors and 2. i can record the growth
