for stock im thinking for fish (6 options)
a pair of red spot glass cardinals - if Liveaquaria had to feed these guys a whopping 10x a day at first, not sure
pair of copper cardinals - they prefer larger groups
pair of gumdrop coral crunchers - interesting fish but you may not see them and a pair may be too messy
pair of yellow gobies - gotta get a mated pair or they'll fight, need a lid
1 neon goby - always a safe choice, tbh, needs a lid. Mated Pairs are readily available
1 possum wrasse - needs a lid, maybe too big
1 brachiosaurus blenny - I've never seen this one before, learn something new everyday.

for inverts:

pair of harlequin shrimp - they only eat starfish, you ready to always provide? Otherwise they are very cool
fire shrimp pair - gotta get a mated pair... may be too big for a 5g
pom pom crabs? - gotta get a mated pair or two females, males will fight. I've got a male
maybe a lettuce slug? - nah, but you already came to that conclusion on your own

ive aslo got an aquaclear 50 thats not used and if its silent enough im thinking setting it on low flow and adding rubble rock or something to it - NO! Make it a refugium! I will show you how, it's awesome to do.

im also going to add plants too, tufted joint weed, gracilia, stuff like that. - ask me about the plants, :D I can tell you where to go.

i found a forum with a LA rep and they said that they were pretty easy its just that at first they are kind of hard to take care of

noooooooo so cool fish *sigh* maybe for the 90 if they don't fight with my couple (ive got eggs! daddy ate them though)

coral crunchers- LA lol or maybe my lfs can special order (im consulting them as well because they seem pretty reasonable, and then i cross examine both advice and pick from whatevers left)

yeah gobies need pairs, even the little guys lol, i was also thinking court jesters?

lol neon gobies

ive heard possum wrasses are ok for 10 gallons so idk i thought maybe by itself it might be ok, considering they dont get too big (>3")

the blenny gets 3" long, too big?

yeah im ready for the harlequins, my rock has lots of brittle stars and im going to try to get a bunch of asternias and stock up on them, as well as maybe buy a chocolate chip star and use it for food (though im still thinking about the star since i literally am cutting it in half :/)

i was expecting for fireshrimp, or any shrimp, to need a pair/ big enough tank (btw my peppermints spawned again)

i have never seen a pom pom IRL so im assuming if LA gets a pair/ willing to send me one or just get one if i ever see it.

and you know im going to be asking questions with the plants lol :D

Check out my 4g pictures I've got pictures of the pompom crab. They prefer dimmer aquariums. Mine's in an nps tank with like mushies.

In spades... They actually grew!

The tank gets cyclops ease everyday, he'll wave the anemones about catching food, and of course, the nems eat too. You eat, you grow.

:)

im heading off to the lfs today with my plans ill post back here as to what they say that way i have all my info here to make a decision on stock.

though i definitely know for certain ill be getting harlequins at some point hahaha

i know they are sooo cool.

and the lfs guy i talk to (not the owner) is awseome i kinda feel bad because i dont know his name lol. but i told him of my plan and he said all the fish are ok (so ill just put the choices down on a wheel and pick lol) and he even gave me a bag of 15+ asternias! i also picked up a weird bright green mushroom because the tank stats are OK (seeded rock+ seeded sand+ old water = no brainer lol)

i think im going to go with a pair of something, so the wrasse and blenny ill leave for something else, that blenny is pretty interesting, it has the equivalent of a nuchal(sp) hump like a cichlid. and you said no copper cardinals, so that leaves

red spot cardinals
coral cruchers
neon gobies
citron goby
court jesters
ill look into the coppers though because im really interested in the cardinals.

so we shall see

however, no hawkfish, but we left with a finger leather for the 90 (frag) it was loose to begin with so im skeptical but if it lives, good deal.

i dont have a camera and the photobucket app for my phone is crap
ill find a way in a bit, but the 90 still has that algae issue and the pico is dusty (425 blowing sand everywhere)

i think was the caribsea ocean direct 5.5 bag

the powerhead is slowly blowing it away from one corner and only leaving the shells and small rocks behind.

its placed at the top-back-right of the aquarium aiming to the lower-front-left

and its not really dusty just theres a thin layer of something (not algae and if it is very thin layer, no color) on the glass, the snails and stars are eating it or at least getting rid of it so theres lines all over the place lol.

ill clean the front and leave the rest for them.

i think i fixed the powerhead problem, i moved it to the upper middle right and aimed it as high as i could, the sand isnt bothered as much as before if at all and i have a nice rippled effect :D

temp is still too low, it ranges from 72 in the morning to 76 at night, the heater (marineland 25watt) is set to 80

i have yet to get a hood, but it is going to be a custom plexiglass one so that there isnt any blockage of light, so maybe that will trap the heat.

also, i think ive settled on the red spot glass cardinals, im going to try to get a group of 5 from live aquaria but ill try to see if my dad would be willing to spend 160 more dollars to get free shipping lol

yeah, I'm struggling a bit with temperature in my pico too. Had to get a little 10w heater to take the edge off at night. I should be ok to leave it off tonight though.

L

well as far as i know the temp didnt change all night, 74 last night and the same this morning

asternias are still milling about, and that one mushroom is doing ok, still hasnt fully opened.

here the light spec: 2 6 watt T5HOs

is that good for the rics i want to move over from the 90? they will stay in my tank until they get a foothold on something
