Hi GAB. Have a safe trip... Before you go.

Try to get those pictures up. I am, after all, doing a macro algae/seagrass tank, maybe I can give that macro you found an id. I'll I've been doing for the past month is sifting through macro algae.

ok!

i am still in puerto rico but wen i get back!

also got some really crappy pictures of wild fish including

caribbean tangs

another type of tang idk common name

cuttlefish

juvi french angel fish ( so cute )

brains

macros...lots

angels

and also saw but could not take pics of

multitudes of sea urchins

blennies

a very friendly goby

a small yellow colored tang sort of fish

and other stuuf im too tired to mention

Dear glob its been a long time hasn't it
Almost a month jeebus

Ok well a lot of macroalgae I managed to sneak back from Puerto Rico died but 3 managed to live with 2 struggling

The macro algae near the zoas is firings as well due to some* cyano, but nothing to complain about.

Also yet another new macro algae appeared around the yellow polyps rock, looks insane.

Moving from plants to inverts now, I think maybe 4 new additons I haven't mentioned

2 headed golden torch coral :D clowns love it

Christmas favia coral, isn't doing too well I'm still trying to find a place where it will be happy and not savagly murder things or get knocked down. My worry of putting it on the Sand bed is that a) conch trolls it or b) turbo snails troll it its begining to turn pale-ish where it is right now ( top of the tank in front of output nozzle)

And a rasta spaghetti leather coral my dad bought

The candycane head that was siding is completely healed and it is in fact splitting to make a new head. I decreased my dosage to every 2 days instead of every other day and its helped a lot.

The chalice like coral is in fact a cyphastrea coral, and holy cat its growing so fast. But my lights aren't strong enough so its tanned alittle only the polyps are green now.

Ricordea is fine

Mushrooms are fine, the ones in the 20 are organizing a colony once more.

Yellow polyps are growing well

Gsp frags are doing great obviously and getting good growth

My clam died NOOOOOOO but the watermelon zoas have held it together and they are spreading nicely

The radioactive zoas are doing good as well

The Duncan is on its unhappy streak but I'm sure it will perk up

Also happy to say I'm almost aiptasia free! Only 2 left

And that's because I got 2 more peppermint shrimp, and they must like it because I've seen 2 skin sheds so far. And one of them has taken refuge under the zoa rock so he says hello every now and then

Also I should be getting some mushrooms in the mail soon:
3 kinds of rics
3 saint Thomas mushrooms
2 Florida mushrooms
And a black spined sea urchin

And lastly, le fish

Clowns are now distinguished male and female, meaning there's a size difference now nothing else lol

Gramma is doing well and not as skiddish

Another pair of bangaiis, its day 4 or 5 and still no fighting, we shall see (if you haven't guessed yet the urchin is for future babies, they hide among the spines in the wild)

Maybe a longnose hawkfish in the future? Month or so from now in case bangaiis don't turn out well ?

Well I think that's it.. might rig up a metal halide to add some light (do store bought fixtures work ok?)

Sounds like you've been trucking a long just fine. Where are pictures? No pictures? You speak of such nice things and we see no pictures! Buy camera.

well the package came today

omg

its like christmas but in the summer and its wet and slimey.

i got way more than i thought id get:

ordered one lime green ric: got 3-4

ordered on orange ric: got one with 2 mouths

ordered light blue w/deep purple base ric: got like 5 LOL for 22$ not bad

ordered 8 palys : got 15+

ordered one urchin: got two

the rest of the order (saint thomas and florida) came in ones

overall extremely happy so far only blips right now are i cant tell the saints apart and one of the bags leaked over the trip but it only had one coral and its fine thank glob

another blip is that some of the corals came without rock (the florida mushrooms came attached to #138## clam shells O.O ) soo i may have some trouble there.

Sounds like a nice package, but man, you really need to ask for a camera for your birthday or Christmas, or something. LOLOL

i should be getting pics up next week when everything is settles in, though im happy that all the corals are open, the saints moved a little bit though but for not being attached to anything they havent moved far.

the urchins are hiding on in the rockwork the other in the dark spot behind the output nozzle i do not know if this is normal (wether or not urchins are more active day or night)

the ones that i found near in puerto rico (which are highly likely the same i have in the tank since all these corals are from the florida coast)
seemed to like being tucked into crevices and in shallow-ish water so we will see how it goes

today i might try to fidget with the saints and put back a cluster of palys that got knocked off and thats it, feed tomorrow

im also going to replace the turbo snails with nerite snails, they are much smaller and wont be able to completely bulldoze everything (still have to deal with the conch and the urchins but i should manage)

may get 2-3 more nassarius snails?

ive also noticed a completely ridiculous amount of copepods everytime i lifted a rock or moved a coral so i may get a mandy

depends on how the ones at the petstore look

I may have knocked into the candy cane coral and chipped a part of the skeltal structure....

Let's hope it lives...hopefully
Because that would suck since it was doing so well.

And apparently cyphastrea likes light but not too much or else of game out
Like mine did
You know what time it is?
Experimentation Time!!!

I've got a ton of pods too, but no mandy's for me, my tanks are too small. I look forward to pictures.

hello

ok

some new stuff added

chalice coral

acropora coral

wellso brain

and lobo brain

the acro was just an experiment to see if i could actually keep acros, i had trouble attaching (reattaching actually) the acro and i was almost positive i dryed it out and killed it but actually its doing fabulous

before i had one last snail to deal with and that mother knocked the acro down to the bottom of the tank and its still happy lol.

ill but it back where it goes tomorrow

so i got the snails out of there except for steve, going to order or buy more at a later date

got a second 1400GPH powerhead so cyano is virtually non existent

aips are gone

cyphastrea was moved down, slowly turning green again

all invertebrates are extremely happy, even the perppermint shrimps are out going which is really weird.

fish are doing great, no add ons so far

cardinals are sticking together with minor bickering, still only in their "just friends" state, i dont feed often enough to successfully have a spawn though im thinking i probably could considering i have low bioload for now.

stats are great, maintenence over the weekend.

maybe pictures this weekend ive got nothing to do except college apps.

i rescaped the tank so we have much bigger sand area for wrasses and corals

also added a mandarin on sunday, a little skinny when we got him but he was active and when we came home he immediatley started to flare at his reflection haha. but when we turned the lights off he went into the rockwork and has since scavenged so hes a little bigger now.

also the cardinals havent killed each other so im going to risk it and say they are a couple.

everything is fine

still having trouble with the favia though

and the duncan coral is not looking good but other than those two things

also apparently theres another fish person at my school so we might set up a club.

sorry still no pictures im on the mac and it takes too long and i have to finish some stuff.

i take that thing i said about the cardinals, i got back today and now one of them is missing their top flag fin thing
it should grow back

but now its a bit of a whodunit

because i havent seen aggression from the other cardinal in a long time

and the clowns were bothering them

and you know clownfish...

still havent moved the duncan but i can probably say its going to die

i have to move my brains tomorrow they dont like where they are

and then take my lose rics and saints and glue them to one chunk of rock

also ill try to get pictures,

my parrot recently died and it has not been a good week at all and im not doing to great in school because of it, and the fact ive been infected with senioritis (excessive laziness)
and with 5 AP classes that catches up quick.

so you might see a picture update and then ill be gone until december or thanksgiving.

ive mainly been getting frags but that money will be coming in after thanksgiving so expect alot of corals
though tbh i already have a tough time remembering how many types of rics i have and sometimes i completely forget about the torch

also the 2 candy cane heads are splitting so i might have 4 by end of month

im also trying to do my dosing every other day to keep things nice

also forgot to mention that my peppermint shrimps have eggs but i dont think i still have 2 one might have died in the rescape.

edit: duncan died i picked it up to move and the polyps just fell out
ill probably buy one head over the weekend once i find spots for the brains since duncan like low light and flow

Sounds like you have your hands full mate. I would say keep trucking! I restructured my school and would only play AFTER I was done with the important school works... Its tough I know, cuz u always think u have plenty of time and then u don't do it till last minute.

Keep ur head high and you will be fine!

Would love to see some updates! I was hoping to get a duncan, why do you think yours is not doing well?

-Tyler

mine didnt do well because i got lazy with the dosing and it was already not opening as often

i moved it to a spot where it got way too much flow and i was busy so i couldnt move it so basically it was doomed after that.

just check on it daily and it should be fine before it died it grew 2 heads when it was still in good shape
