Don't worry about the tang, they aren't hard to keep as long as you a) keep them fed right (with dried seaweed), b) have plenty of open swimming space, and c) keep your water good.

I have one in my 90, and he is a good fish, adds a lot of movement and personality to the tank.

yup got all of that its just the stereotype freaking me out lol.

shes in QT now and seems content, nom nommed on some algae as soon as she was out of the bag, unfortuantley my dad did not like that so if the fish dies i have to pay for it even though i did not want it.

o and i got grounded for not mentioning that i put her in QT, happy days

but the royal gramma was fine, first thing it did was fight the clownfish. i guess it won because one of the cowns did their little submissive spaz dance. and then the gramma swimed off into the rock.

so as of 6pm Ga time the tang looked pretty, not dead wooohoo

she was actually pretty healthy and active and all that generic stuff. one problem though
she likes to stay at the back corner of the tank next to the heater, since theres no cover in the tank

should i get a plastic castle or something for her to hide in?
actualy, i was thinking of making the 20 a pollution themed tank, like adding glass bottles instead of rock since its filterd????

idk

alos the royal gramma is doing good, kinda chill fish tbh

Tangs do like to have a crevice to sneak into, they usually like to be able to just 'rest' there.

You are joking about the castle, right?

Yes I was joking about the castle haha.
But seriously what can I put in the tank on such sort notice to make the tang feel more comfortable?

Mmmmm, got any teracotta or plastic flowerpots?

actually my dad was thinking that but he said we had some at home (we didnt)

just n case though he bought some plastic plants and iv clumped thogether so hopefully she likes that. if not next time we go to the hardware store ill pick up a large PVC pipe and just use that.

ok so its like day 3 or 4 and the 90 is doing great

plastic paradise however is still stressing me out, all the tang will eat is the algae in the tank, she has spat out the food the lfs was feeding her as well as brineshrimp. so tomorrow i will try the dried kelp strips and hope that works.

she still is very shy and will only swim around the back of the tank, but its still an improvement from just circling the heater. however whenever i approach she goes back to the heater which makes it impossible for me to feed her, and can only do so when i approach very slowly.

i think im gonna have to hold off on the wrasse lol since i cant even get a tang to eat what it has been eating for the past 2 months.

Thaaaaaaaaanks a bunch least I know someone likes it haha.

Anyways, update.
She finally ate :yahoo:

Other than that is guess nothing else going on other than yellow polyps are dying due to lack of flow, I plan on moving them once my blister heals, ( there's this stuff called new skin on it and I don't want to harm anything

oved the polyps to a better stop, will know by tomorrow

moved the tang over, doing good

now i leave for 5 days to a tennis camp

so i get back thursday and have been told/ noticed the firefish has been MIA since tuesday
so, probably dead in the tank as i havent found a mummyfish, no idea why he ate when i left and was supposed to be fed on tuesday.

the tang is a little on the skinny side but still perky and eating algae, the kelp is disappearing so hopefully shes the cause of that

when you guys feed your tangs do you replace the seaweed whenever its gone or do you wait a few days before placing a new one?

also, the lfs trolled me, the guy there, after me specifically saying to call the moment they had african blue star leopard wrasses, told me they had one, but that someone bought nearly an hour after we showed up #129###

but they still do have a very pretty longnose hawkfish thats been laying there for like, ever, so we may get that to hold off my dads need for fish

also having a temprature battle in the tank, highest its gotten since i came back was 83 D: we removed the canopy and added a fan in the sump so if i remember correctly it now seems to be staying at 79.9 or 79.3 o what to do... they have some nice candy frags and trumpet frags i want my hands on but with temps like this...

also got some cyano, expected from the lack of flow, but we might have fixed it by adding a koralia 1400, and eventually we will add another to the tank to finish off flow, and then point the smaller koralia up for ripples

also, while clearing out my basement for the build crew in a few weeks we discovered a bank account my parents made for me in puerto rico, if that account still exists it will have 750$+ in it since 1996/7.....

im thinking general fish keeping splurge :yahoo:

then save the rest for idk

i think thats it, id get pics but seeing as i dont have a readily available camera and tff on my phone wont let me post pics

Right now, I'm loving that I have central air. Constant 76 in the house. Unless the AC breaks, then it's much worse. The winters are a problem, though. No heat, so it dips to the 60s.

Where are you again?

Neat on the bank acccount. Always nice to find extra money. :)

i am located in upper metro atlanta georgia so its very hot right now, highs in the 95s and nightime in the 80s plus unnesecary amounts of humidity make it much worse, tbh the weather in california and puerto rico is much much better.

as well as in the winter that it gets to the low 30s every now and then, but the heat from the lights being trapped by the canopy and the heater should help.

anyone got any help with the tang question im not concerned that she isnt eating im concerned she isnt eating enough, the others are easy i just pop in a brinshrimp cube and 3 minutes later they are obese.

You are not super far from me then. Yes, it's hot. I opted for CF bulbs which burn cooler. Not as fabulous, but it'll grow what I want.

Maybe another type of macro algae? Sorry, not a tang expert. I know they eat greens, maybe she needs another kind? Someone I'm sure will pipe in.
