Even pictures don't seem to entice anyone

Nevertheless I shall trudged onward

Last night I noticed the gramma smashed up against a ridge in one of the rocks, which I thought was odd since he usually goes into his little cave network, but this morning he was fine so I won't be too concerned about that, he has also stopped frequently flicking against the rocks so my concerns for the tank slowly diminish.

The chalice is doing good and the others are as well, but I am still concerned with the gsp/zoo frag, seeing as that gsp if it wanted to, could easily grow all over that rock and cause problems, same with the yellow polyps. I was intending for the yellows, the gsp, and the eventual xenia to inhabit separate smaller rocks but without another powerhead for substrate flow they have to stay perched on the rock for now

I may have to take that small frag out and cut out as much gsp as I can and put it on the other rock, but that rock also has a pretty black sponge on it so if anyone can tell me if its safe to move the sponge and put it maybe on a plug or something that'd help.

If he looks fine now, I'd say nothing to worry about

I'd worry about the star polyps. I have them overgrowing my tank, the yellow polyps I wouldn't worry about so much, because they are easy to frag. I'd isolate them TBH.

I'm no expert on sponges, but I do know that taking them out of water for any period of time WILL kill them, and they seem to like lower light.

As far as the lavendar tang, they get a bit big for your tank (6 ft needed). Look through liveaquaria, they are great. Try the spotted bristletooth, they look pretty similar, as do the 2 spot bristletooths.

Tank looks great BTW.

Yeah sorry I made a mistake I meant the mimic lemonpeel tang not the lavender.
I chose the fish because I wanted something yellow, but not generic like the yellow hawaiin tang, and I personally don't really like the other types of tang (sailfins and dwarfs) I like the teardrop shaped elegant look of the acanthurus and naso genuses

The original plan was to have the 3 invasive (4 if you count the zoo rock) corals have their own small piece of lr away from the main scape to minimize problems and that way I can place plugs near them for easy frags. I may buy a bag of reef bones to do this as my current spare rocks are too small, I will use one of them however to try and maybe rubberband the sponge to it since superglue is out of the question

Also, that chalice has some massive sweepers on it lol they are easily 3 inches some of them

Also for corals, if the corals have the same genus will they attack each other? What if they are the same species?

Good idea. Star polyps are very easy to peal up off the substrate too, but it's nearly impossible off of the rocks

Yeah, chalices are very very aggressive.

Also for corals, if the corals have the same genus will they attack each other? What if they are the same species?
IME, they will if in the same genus, but not of the same species, though this does vary for some corals. for example, different zoos and palys won't sting each other, but different acroporas will. What coral where you wondering about (And if it was the softies, softies don't generally sting each other so much as just grow on top of each other.)

Torches

Hammers

Bubbles

Frogspawn

Bird nests

Chalices

Acans

Favias

Stylophoras

No problem

Not much so far, that dumb gramma is still acting super sketchy and my paranoid self wants to stick it in qt ASAP until it gets better but dad will probably make me pay for it if it dies from something.

And that a dumb turbo knocked the chalice ( or something else that's starts with a cyph I can't remember the rest) from the highest part of the tank all the way down to the bottom. Disregarding the fact my I just finished working out with a dirty arm I put it back and intend on epoxying it into place tomorrow...if its still alive and not shattered into a million pieces urrrr

Also noticed red tube worms, more black sponges, serpent stars, bristle worms, and all sorts of macroalage growing around. The algae looks like miniature mermaids fan but its not very big atm so ill give it time, hopefully nothing eats it.

My freezer now has a small shelf dedicated to dead fish, never had this many at once.
So what do I do with the expensive carcass of the tang?

Not in the tank lol

In the freezer.

I don't know what to do with them haha

I have a catfish in there since I think around this time last year D:

Just make sure family members don't decide to defrost the wrong thing for dinner...

Not Much is going on
I got the reef bones and pit them in the twenty for what purpose I forgot, I'm feeding every other day and doing every other day iodide and 1/2 to keep parameter up, my dad is coming home today from god knows where in south america so we will probably be going to the fish store, and when I feed and dose today ill move the bones over and put the gsp and polyps on their own little island, though Tbh the yellow polyps are already bouncing back, I've got 3 polyps on the sand bed in 2 different spots and then another on the rock work.

I also noticed that there is a multitude of brightly colored tube wroms, Rangoon from bright red to blue to purple etc.

The gramma is doing loads better, but I still dislike its presence.

Other than that I am incredibly bored since I've been stuck in my room reading countless books ranging from everest expeditions to post apocalyptic survival and nutmeg.

ive got a red/pink one

Ok...

Cardinal died: both good and bad

Bad because I killed a fish again and it was totally my fault, and it might have killed a candy cane head

Good because now I can order a legit pair (tank bred) and not have to play matchmaker, and the gramma is now more active

He died because the other male I put in long time ago busted his lip, he was eating and it healed so I thought he was ok but then he deteriorated so he must have caught a bug

Second, the candy cane that got effected due to the cardinal, its still there but the flesh around the skeleton peeled in two or three spots, it looks very minimal but I'm not taking any chances, it looks like it might be splitting as well ( I have yet to do any research as to how they do so so it may just be getting larger) so if anyone can put input if the head will regenerate that'd be nice.

Third, that coral I bought that looks like a chalice but I don't think is a chalice is growing very fast, the part that broke off when I placed it already healed and then some and its already starting to shelf, really happy with this coral.

Fourth, surprise macroalgae on the zoa rock, ill take a pic and have hopefully someone * cough cough Donya* ID it

@ tube worms, they are actually pretty small but I will try to get a picture, I have 3+ red ones, one purple, and one Orange

I'm leaving for Puerto Rico on Thursday and then I get to have a lovely chat with a bank teller on Friday, with my family everything is an event so it should be pretty interesting, particularly my uncle who thinks my part of the family is very hoighty toighty so it would be fun to see his face if the lady finds money Hahaha

P.s my Mon told me to further bother my uncle by telling him I only drink sparkling water ( a habit I picked up while in Belgium this summer)

P.p.s I might get a underwater camera to take pictures of the reefs in vieques, though with my skill I would either get pics of my finger or blurry images

That's all....

ok ill try to keep it short its 4am here and im tired

1. seems some sort of happenings has happened...if that makes sense

2. the money, after 5 years the bank of puerto rico sends inactive accounts to the treasury department, my dad now has to go there and sort things out

3. ive been having a problem with my parrot as the fish keep me rather busy and along with everything else i dont have the time for her excpet for standard feeding i only can take her out if shes bothering someone or when i do my exercise, i havent found a place to take the bird off my hands so ive decided to do whats best and to use the extra money to get a new cage and take her to the vet (beleive it or not my parents dont beleive in taking animals to seek medical attention, but with the money i can afford a visit) and do right by the parrot

i should still have some money left over so dont worry there will be massive coral boosts in the future.
