1st Proper Bash At A Planted Tank! Update! 15/05/07

Ok untied the riccia and got a bit of plastic about 8 x 4inch (oval shaped) and tied riccia to it !

Also chopped the Hygro Poly in half and replanted it as it was at the waters surface

Hygro Corymbosa is still growing

Java moss is doing well

And soo are the corries

I think th Alternanthera Reinecki is possibly just shedding its emersed leaves and they are turning to mush then the submerged leaves will grow on.

Is it 1 month old?. Looks very healthy in the first pic but very broad leaves.

Another picturless update ....

Bought 2 Amano Shrimps I really like them if they do well i think i might turn this tank into a shrimpy tank and jus have a few corries aswell !

All in all im fairly happy at the moment jus annoyed with my riccia that keeps floating to the top

BIG UPDATE!

Still no cam hahahah!

Dont worry I WILL GET PIC'S!

Added some Hygrophila Difformis and also some Java Fern Windelov!

Moved the corries into my large tank as they werent doing to well in this tank .. i think its due to the crappy filter ... will get a new one asap!

One of the amanos is still nowhere to be seen .... today at the LFS i was told u need a tank with a tight lid on it !

Mines open top I know i definately have one in there though!

Polysperma is a weed ! I love it

Im just rumbling on about aload of junk and this update isnt really very informative ...

Just didnt want people thinking i had just abandoned the journal ... thats just ignornant

Ok guys i decided i couldnt wait on my mates cam any longer and got batteries for mine ....

My Windelov ... Still waiting on brown bits to go ... Had alot of brown when i got it from the shop!

My Difformis I think its doing good so far, Its grown a fair amount already!

Corybosa "Siamensis" Doing good IMO a fairly slow grower from what i can see so far!

Light had been out and c02 off for a good few hours when i took this pic ... Hence no pearling!

I couldnt sleep soo thought ill update as i have been saying i will for ages now!

Im very proud of what i have acchieved so far... No major hiccups only a little bit of algae growth... Nothing to complain about!

Ok ...

Algae is getting a tad worse ...

Its green and fairly long ... most on glass but i am getting some on my plant leaves i also noticed some really dark green clumps of algae on a Corymbosa leave... its low down and out of site but i say it from above tonight!

Anything you guys would reccommend ?

Keep in mind that your system is still very new and you are still trying to achieve a state of balance with your ferts, photo period, CO2 levels, and plant density. The presence of an algae type other than diatoms, indicates that something is amiss. Is it possible to have a picture of the algae?

Yeah i suppose i could try and get a pic...

But i have DIY co2

and i really dont know what my c02 levels are ... I pull the pipe off the ladder at night!

Photoperiod .. is from around 8-9 hours sometimes a tad longer ...

The other day i forgot to turn them out and it resulted in them being on for a good 14 hours

Ill take a sample from the tank and let stand till tomorrow and ill test it with my crappy tetra strips ...

Last time i tried the colours wer too similar to tell !

Ok done the 24 hour let stand test ..

and both samples are the same ...

So im 100% sure my test stripes are crap!

Maybe i should get a drop checker of something ?
