1000 Us Gal Project

i just got a cambelli of mad man the other day its about 8inch and seams to be doing well he had done all the hard work for me as it eats pellets from day one

cambelli love blood worm and its sometimes hard to get them off it

as for the male marble giving the smaller female stick males only stress out females when they are in heat and ready to breed until then they show no intrest

its the same with males if you put a mature male with big claspers in with a small male with non mature claspers it will show no intrest as soon as the smaller male starts to get the claspers the fights will start

1 of my female p14 is very fat and hungry all the time always trying to jump on the tinfoils i think she will have the pups within the next 2 weeks if the move hasnt stressed her to much

i will get a pic of her in the morning

have u seen it eat then mate ?

wish i had the cash now for a p14 pup but thats off the cards for a while! maybe next time! ha.
i really want the campbelli but if thats too much then i won't bother, you don't see many about now to compare to. i will definitely get one though, then its just the pulcher i need, got offered a 14" for £500, just don't have £500, will have to get saving! ha

yes i have seen it eat lots of pellets

how big is that plec?

the pleco is about 8inch long and 6inch wide

i was worried with this last tiger i got, it was really chunky, its about 9 inch, wild caught, only ever been fed live fish in captivity, the guy in bas said the place they came from only fed them sword tails, i took the chance with it as when i went over to the tank they all shot up like begging for food, i thought if they are that hungry / greedy, they will eventually eat prepared foods! at first it just kept spitting out the lance fish, and then the same with prawns, but now it eats a fair few prawns so its back to being chunky!
what was the growth rate like with the campbelli mad man?
i haven't seen much with the microlepis, the girlfriend says he has grown so maybe half an inch or so, but the two undecimradiatus are shooting up, was about 3" max when i put them in now one is about 4" and the other a bit more!
looking at getting this 7" campbelli, still not sure if £120 is a little too much though :look:

at 1st cambelli were the most expencive of all the tigers i was paying £25-65 for wide bars then £125-145 for cambelli about 7-8 years ago

i wonder why? without taking price and rarity into consideration, wide bars are by far the best looking, and campbellis are on par with silvers in my opinion, i like nice clean lines, hence why the microlepis is my second favourite! i do really like my little thin bars aswel though, they have nice clean lines to them!
once i get the campbelli i can concentrate on getting the cash for the pulcher!

The Thin bar I got Thirsday has really nice clean lines. I was surprised actually as he was showing his colours almost instantly, a bright gold and really dark full black. Usually I see them looking really stressed in shops. He's gone into hiding for the minute though after spending most of last night cruising around with a similar sized freshwater Archer (around 3"). Really happy with him though. The Lima Shovelnose isnt settling as well though, spendin all his time with his nose facing down and hiding. Anyone know if this is common?

yes its normal for lima shovel nose cats to sit in one spot doing a head stand, ask always4lora, thats all his does! i think they are more outgoing as a part of a group, other than that i think they only forage about for food when they're hungry. its what put me off getting one, going to wait until i get a zebra shovelnose!

yep normal mine did just that but he was a crazed bezerck for bloodworm pellets

Thanks both, puts my mind at ease. A zebra would be immense given the space, I would have a hard time convincing the missuss that it was worth the cash though, lol. I will no doubt have a go once I upgrade though.

dont buy the small zebra/tigrinus shovelnose cats chances of them living are 50/50

buy one bigger than 12inch and they are 100 x more strong
