    Betta v Guppy

I also say Bettas, they are more hardy then Guppies. You could do what wrs said and divide the tank or have several female Bettas and one male. Just remember that male Bettas don't get along with Fancy Guppies (most of the time anyway) ;)

    Cool habits

I too had a Betta that was in love with a snail. The Betta was in a 1 gallon because he was, well kind of a bully and didn't get along with the other fish. I got a small ram snail once on a live plant and didn't want it in my tank so I put it in with the Betta. He followed that snail around...

    am i overstocked?

I don't think adding more Bala Sharks will help the ones you already have. A lot of them are timid and anxious, that is just the way they are

    fish with guppies

Some nice top fish are Hatchet fish and Glass cats. Both of these pretty much ignore every one else. I have also had Phantom Butterflies with guppies and they stick to themselves too.

    Tank Vs. home

I voted "I have no respect for the welfare of my fish" just because I couldn't resist  I too keep my fish tanks cleaner then my house most of the time, unless life gets to hectic which is easy when you have a 7 yr old. I have found though that if I don't spend a lot of time looking for...

    Who uses heaters

I use to have heaters but had a hard time getting them regulated so I took them out. My tanks stay about 78 year round. I live in Minnesota and came from North Dakota so it gets a bit nippy in the winter. I'm such a wimp when it comes to the cold though, that my house is always pretty warm...

    Moving a tank

I agree with Tolak, I've had tanks break while in transit before. I would remove as much water as possible. When I moved from ND to MN it was about 700 miles, I put the fish in 1 gallon buckets and used an battery powered pump. I also added Methylene Blue to the water.

Too much money for one fish?

Don't use any cleaning solutions! Just plain water will work. Make sure you use a water conditioner to remove the chlorine and stuff and to have the new water the same temp as the old. When I clean my small tanks I fill a large cup with tank water and put the fish in there. Then I rinse the...

I would add the new one, but keep the old one going for a couple of weeks.

Too much money for one fish?

I agree if you have already bought all that extra stuff you might as well spend the $10.00 and get a 10 gallon. To clean algae from plants and other things soak them in a bleach solution ( I use a five gallon bucket and add 1/2 cup bleach and then fill the bucket with hot water) for an hour or...

How Do You Prepare Wood From a Lake

When I use branches or driftwood from outside I soak them in a strong bleach solution for 24 hrs then I soak them in clear water with a lot of AquaSafe to remove the chlorine. The one problem I have is getting the wood to not float. I tried to silicone it to a flat rock but that only held for...

HELP FISH DYIING AS I WRITE!!

Guess we are lucky that way, they post it in the paper when they will be flushing out the system here just for the fish owners. I agree with the other posters, do a water change and get a bigger filter. :)

    Boycott the walmart fish!

I just want to say that as long as a truck is moving the inside of it doesn't get real hot (my husband is a truckdriver) plus most fish are shipped in Styrofoam coolers. ^_^ I must agree that most Wal-Marts don't know anything about fish. The Wal-Mart here has one employee that knows some...

    help! sick gourami

That sounds like dropsy, better go get some good meds for it or it will kill off most of your tank. Gouramis seem to be affected by this more easily then other fish. in my experience anyway. Dropsy- is a bacterial infection in the abdomen of the fish. The belly of the betta will look extremely...

    albino frog

I agree with Inchworm, African Clawed frogs can get quite large, aggressive and will eat anything they can fit into their mouths. I wouldn't keep any fish with them unless you want to use them as feeders.

Can my ADF live in my 26 gallon tank??

I had one in a 29 gallon for a long time. I would wait until the light had been out for awhile then feed him, that way the fish are asleep. AD Frogs are more nocturnal, at least the ones I have had were.

    lobsters

I've had crayfish in the past and they can get a little picky about the water. I had one that I feed reptomin right out of my hand. I love them, but seem to have bad luck with them when it comes to shedding time. Also they like to creep up on fish during the night and ambush them

To eat... Or not to eat.

Um, I would guess yes too, they would probably disappear during the night. That is what happened in my tank when I added some crayfish. Some of my smaller fish just disappeared.

    Help with guppies

How where they acting before they died? Did you do a water change before adding more fish? Have you treated the tank at all? I would treat the tank even if the other fish seem fine. I would also wait awhile before adding anymore fish. Just a thought, have you seen the gouramis chasing any...

    Red zebra

Have you added any snails or fish that where wild caught lately? You can get a parasite that causes black spots from snails. Also there is another black spot that is mentioned here. Hope this helps some.

    Hello all

Hello, well guess I'll start out by bragging about my fish, I have four tanks at the moment. Need some advice

I was browsing ebay when I came across this. :-( The sad thing is I don't think this person even knows that these fish are sick. In the pics it's hard to tell it looks like eather HITH, some kind of fungus or maybe they are hurting themselves on those sharp rocks she has in there. What do...
