    Tropiquarium 88

Hi, Anyone familiar with this tank? My lighting has gone, have tried bypassing the timer but to no avail. I need advice on repairing or refurbing the lighting, bearing in mind the heater and pump are all fed from one socket via the hood. Would be most grateful for any advice. Thanks. PS. I'd...

    Eels

I highly recommend Peacock eels. Mine eat bloodworm from my hand and are very personable. They are ok with all the other fish also. I added the second one only 2 weeks ago though and he tends to get chased by the larger one. When you first get them you will hardly see them for a few days then...

    I Have My First Mbu!

I apologise-I was adding the angst I acheived from reading another post but,I stand by my assertions. There does seem around here to be an abundance of people who appear to be "just waiting" for somebody to fail in any given criteria. Yes the tank is too small for the puffer but...it will do...

    I Have My First Mbu!

Well you know thats big enough...for the time being.Where in the initial post did he/she state that was going to be the sole home regardless?Stop being so anal and get off your high horse! I'm sorry but I have a problem with a few on here who just seem too eager to pounce on anybody who does...

    Algae Eater ?

Dont rely on the algae eaters keeping the tank clean. It wont happen-they will eat algae but not an amount significant to catering for your tank cleaning needs! They are good for picking algae off live plants though,I find.

Anyone Have Experience With Clown Loaches?

Is that 26 UK gallon or US? Either way-they will out grow your tank eventually or...they will not grow to their capacity.I got the same prob-got 2 of them which I know eventually will have to be re-housed.

    I Have My First Mbu!

I do agree, especially in the UK puffers get mis-sold but,do you espect every poster to post their future plans and tankage regarding any fish commented on? There are some people on here who would regard a 100UKGal tank being over-stocked with 2 tetras. All I see is a few people trying to score...

    I Have My First Mbu!

That was not abuse,I get fed up with some self righteous types on here who sem to be waiting just to pounce on anybody who does not fulfill a given criteria.Wanna give it a shot?post your tank stats...

    I Have My First Mbu!

Josiah, Take your self righteeous ass off and edit your comments, you have no idea what lies in store for said fish and you are simply trying to score points the easy way by presuming and casting judgement on another person. If you are a member of the"what size is your tank" mafia then I...

    What Are These Things?!?!

I get them also.Think they are water fleas. They are harmless.Cut down on feeding for a few days and the fish will get them.I presume they come with weeds bought from LFS.

    Hoovering

Do what I do..I have white sand in my puffer tank...forever covered in algae or bloodworm skins... Just hoover up all the crap, whatever sand gets sucked up also just swish the water around and clean it-switch off your filter and pour the sand back in.

    What Amphibians?

Utter bollocks! Try African dwarf frogs or even fire bellied newts,I have successfully kept clawed frogs in a community tank for quite a while now also.Beware-amphibian=escape artist

    Filter Off For Too Long

Depends on many factors such as tank size, plants, which fish and how many, water temp. I have once had to consider this also when I was on pre-pay electricity. There is no definitive answer but-in a correctly stocked tank without overally sensitive fish you should be alright for up to 24hrs before...

    Feeding Suggestions

I think you will find that once DPs "discover" a food they will love it forever-it's just the initial introducing it to them thats the pain! If you want to see some real DP carnage try some live daphnia or brine shrimp and watch those bellies grow! Good luck!

    Feeding Suggestions

My dwarf puffers eat frozen bloodworm. At first I had to wean them onto it by using live bloodworm. They will not go for frozen brine shrimp however yet love live ones. Has your DP got a full or sunken belly?Small ramshorn snails are good for puffers but they should not be larger than the DP's...

I have a 1 uk gallon I use as a hospital tank,I dont bother with a heater I simply place it on top of one of my other tanks and the heat from the hood keeps it warm.

    Proper Ph Powder Bad?

As long as your PH remains constant and not extreme in either way then most fish will be happy-they adjust. The fluctuations will upset them. Most of the products available for water tweaking IMO are for the sole benefit of fish shop profits.Bogwood is the best answer as whenever you add water the...

    Id This Fish Please!

Prawns are good for ACFs,I also as a treat feed chopped up steak/beefheart occasionally.Important to rinse the meat thoroughly first though as any excess fat can cause a stroke. Can anybody ID my plants please?

    Id This Fish Please!

Hmmmm, maybe my frog is a little slow then...the tetra count has been 9 ever since I put them in some time ago.I feed him prawns by hand daily and he clears up any bloodworm left over from feeding the others also.Maybe he is never hungry enough to go for the live ones!I say "he" but Dave is...

    Id This Fish Please!

No! I've had dave for 3 years now and he lives with tetras, guppies, clown loach,mollies....lots of tankmates and never once have I seen him aggressive. He just fumbles aimlessly when there is food in the tank.Luckily, everything is quick enough to get away! His favourite trick is to strike a...
