What amphibians of something other than fish can go in a community tank with fish and stay constantly underwater.
I've nearly got all the fish i want for my tank and want something abit different to go in to add abit of interest was thinking of some sort of frog but not sure if they can stay completely aquatic and getting mixed answers from the internet. want something quite brightly coloured if possible and something with great character.

you shouldnt really mix amphibs with fish because they can give off toxins that are harmful to your fish.

ADF's dont release any harmful toxins into the water that will kill or harm fish. ive kept frogs with fish for years and with no ill effects. amphibians like salamanders and newts will release toxins.

ADFs really don't belong in community tanks I think, mainly because they're shy eaters while most fish are very aggressive eaters. That said, they are the only commonly available amphibian I'd stick into a community tank - everything else (newts, sirens, axolotls, etc) is too big and will eat community fish.

I *might* consider putting these guys into a community tank though - provided it was a large one.

Utter bollocks!

Try African dwarf frogs or even fire bellied newts,I have successfully kept clawed frogs in a community tank for quite a while now also.Beware-amphibian=escape artist

I wouldn't recommend ANYONE keeping clawed frogs in with fish for any long amount of time. These frogs are aggressive and even if they can't eat them, will shread fins, and wound even large fish. I remember mine at 2-2.5" would go after a 6" goldfish, and it beat up the goldfish pretty bad. Heck, even convicts don't get too close. If you have any small fish like tetras, count of having to restock numbers often as your frog will enjoy them.
