My plant food doesn't seem to be lasting very long in my large tank. So can I use the really heavily concentrated pond version? I can't remember the brand but saw it in a local shop today. The bottle is twice as big and treats so much more water, will it be suitable? Thanks. Plants in question...

My local is great. The tanks are always spotless, with no dead fish. Everynow and again you'll see a tank with whitespot, but to be fair they do put a sign saying "These fish are not for sale" and will not let you take them home! Value is brilliant, and my local will replace any fish that died...

3 days in and there's still quite a few of free swimmers, must be about 30? Parents are guarding them really well, what's the best food for them and how often?

Turns out I have a swinger! Both my females have made nests and laid eggs, and just one of the males is going to and from guarding them both. First batch hatched today, I didn't even know they were there! They're so tiny! The other eggs should be soon I think :)

Erm, would like to keep them and raise them really. Maybe sell some at work if a large amount survive. Any change to feeding? I feed them once a day at night. Tetra Prima, flakes, tubiflex, bloodworm, shrimp etc....

A great lfs near me has 2 around this size, but without as much colour, at £30 each.

My fluval 304 has one of these pumps, and I've never got the #41#### thing to work. I just fill the canister up with tank water and switch it on. If the filters mature it might chuck out loads of waste into the aquarium, so stick a sock or something over sprayhead.

It should work fine. I had my old tank on the floor with the canister for about a week whilst I was setting up the new one. No problems with water flow at all.

Anything stainless steel. I used to use blunt rivets!

Sevs make great tank mates for parrots!

With terracotta, I just give it a good scrub under a warm tap.

Mine are fine, they even sleep in the same spot together. I guess it depends on the parrot, they all seem to have different personalities. My last male was a brute and just bullied all my fish, no matter what they were....

Didn't even have time to get some melafix from work, just happened so suddenly. The shop I got the fish from now have none left, and I don't think they'll be getting anymore for a while! My local Maidenhead have some HRPs in, however they're all dull and look like fakes, and at £9 each!!

Angels are fine with parrots. My angels used to try and nip at the parrot, then he'd fight back. They soon learned to get along and share the tank.

Minimum tanks is about 30 gallons, then an extra 10 gallons per parrot. Suitable tank mates, there's loads. Severums, angels, silver dollars, anything that will get relativly big or anything that can also be aggressive. Firemouts are great too. Just no little fish like danios or neons etc...

Yeh you don't need to 'blanch' it first, it's fine to go in straight from the fridge. My parrot prefers poking at it that way... He eats anything, even snails!

Butterfly plecs will live in cold water and do not grow that big either. Most Pets @ Home sell them, £4.88ish.

Tbere's a new shop opened where I live (Lincolnshire) and they put every other fish shop to shame. Taken most of out business! The guy personally imports almost all the fish, apart from the common stuff like guppies. If they end up breeding, you can have some ;)

I've been naughty and bought another pair. No more fish now, I think that's enough :) 2 Sevs, 5 Red points and 4 corys. Plants have also arrived, starting to take proper shape now!

The male and a female seem to have already taken up a little territory on the right side of the tank and claimed the larger plant pot. Nothings happened though and I'll be suprised if it does so soon!

The fluval x04 series had 2 small holes underneath each of the catches on the side, I'm not sure if the x05s did, but it's worth checking. If the water looks like it's running from under the catches then put a blob of vaseline under there on the holes and it'll stop it. You could use superglue...

Bogwood does contain a lot of tannis but it doesn't effect the water as far as I know. My tank is full of wood, and the ph has never noticably changed from when it wasn't in. You can soak the wood in a bucket to get most the tannis out too if you don't want brown water. Just keep changing the...

Nah not red parrots, I have one of those and sell plenty at my work. Tattood fish is disgusting, I would never buy a fish from any shop that sold inked fish. Fairly sure they were Honduran Red Points that I saw after doing a bit of searching. Thanks :)
