Hi , I am planning to set up a tank for small cichlids, they have to be in a high pH , was wanting to put in a small piece of bogwood for a BN to rasp on, I am aware bogwood releases tannins and will lower pH to more acidic, if the tank has aragonite sand, ocean rock, tufa rock , will it lower it enough to make much difference ?
Any correspondence greatly appreciated..... :good:

Bogwood does contain a lot of tannis but it doesn't effect the water as far as I know.
My tank is full of wood, and the ph has never noticably changed from when it wasn't in.

You can soak the wood in a bucket to get most the tannis out too if you don't want brown water. Just keep changing the bucket water every times it goes merky.

With your rock and substrate choices I don't think a small piece of wood will affect anything.
