If I Was To Sell Vinny ( Theretical Question)

just asking cos my missus was curious how much hed be worth. i paid 17.95 for him as a w/c specemin at around 2 inches hes now around 7 ish and absolutely flawless

Mark, fish are difficult things to sell, if your lucky at the time of advertisment then great,like me i sold both my snakeheads for 90pounds each,thats what there worth and buyers were around at that time, for example again my chocolate cichlid i paid 20 pounds for and even advertising him at 20pounds i have not had a bit of intrest,i know my local fish shop would sell my one or your one for around 60+pounds and get it easy, he sold a silver arowana at 2inch for 99pounds,,,start at what you would pay if you saw him for sale,,take the heart out of the thought

this is exactly what i try to explain to my missus when we talk about what you could sell certain fish for. my lfs has a sev smaller than him and not nearly as nice for 44 quid . if i was to sell him id want way more than 20 quid for him put it that way!!!

i can pretty much guarentee if he was in the shop i got him from as he is now hed be priced up at 60 MINIMUM

but as i said hes not going anywhere its just theoretical to demonstrate to my missus about the difference between what you as the owner value it at comparedd to what a buyer would pay

as nelly says depends what people think he is worth/ what he is worth to you, i sold my green terror about a month ago for £5, saying that i bought him for only £1 but he was a good 6 - 7 inches, the other thing is actually going ahead and doing it i found it hard to get rid after 2 - 3 years

LFS's can charge silly prices and ppl pay, privately selling we can charge bargain prices and still no sale.

he's worth more than what you would get for him, you probably paid over the odds in the first place
They seem to go for £15-20 as adults on aquarist classifieds and they are common fish for sale however Vinny is a stunner
I;ve just sold all my fish for buttons and for far less than I paid in the shop

My bichir I paid £33 for 2 and a half yrs ago as a tiny toddler, now hes 12 inch and chunky I;d take a tenner!!! My 13 inch clown knife I sold for £3 as I did the 17 inch ginat gourami!!!

As people have said its all about what people want at the time I mean
My blue dempsey was advertised for 50 ono and I wasn't expecting to get
Half that but I got a phonecall a few days after and I sold him for 45 quid

then agan if somebody was after a perfect specimin male to breed with a female someone will pay up to £100 surely for vinny i mean look at him he is stunning

A great lfs near me has 2 around this size, but without as much colour, at £30 each.

they have big gold sevs for a tenner at my lfs, absolutely stunning in perfect condition. not saying for one minute they aren't worth more than that but as has been said its what someone will pay for it.
personally i wouldn't pay any where near 20 quid for any sized gold sev, but thats me, someone who appreciates them and wants one would obviously pay more. if you was to sell him it may be beneficial to ask for offers to gain ideas on what people would be willing to pay. he is only worth as much as some one would pay for it.

Here in the USA $70-100 depending on the person and market. Do you have aquabid? Check on thier to give your lady a good idea of how much they go for.
