One of my females has laid eggs (upside down!!) underneath an arch of bogwood! She's paired up with a male and they're guarding it pretty well.
She stays there all the time, the male occasionally moves about the tank.

I've never had eggs before :hyper:

They're sharing the tank with 2 sevs, 2 other red points, 1 parrot and 2 angels.
I'm thinking about taking the angels to work as they're getting nippy.

My questions are...

What do I do about feeding? Try and drop some where the female is?
How do I go about water changes, and how often? I do 20% and the tank is over a year old, fully cycled fluval 304 external.

Thanks!!

Congrats! I would think about separating the fry asap as you will have better survival rates. Lot of fish in your tank that will eat them. If you choose to leave them in just act as normal and they will do all the work ;) Depends on if you want to sell them on or not really

Erm, would like to keep them and raise them really.
Maybe sell some at work if a large amount survive.

Any change to feeding? I feed them once a day at night. Tetra Prima, flakes, tubiflex, bloodworm, shrimp etc....

Turns out I have a swinger!
Both my females have made nests and laid eggs, and just one of the males is going to and from guarding them both.

First batch hatched today, I didn't even know they were there! They're so tiny!
The other eggs should be soon I think :)

Yeah thats quite normal for them lol nice that you have them working in a trio now though :) Might have to be careful about the two females with fry etc they could get nasty on each other but stuff sounds good so far :) :good:

Congrats. How exciting I would take them out once they are free swimers. Then grow them out in the safety of another tank with a sponge filter.

I think they are better being kept with there parents

Nothign but catfish/loaches will get close.

3 days in and there's still quite a few of free swimmers, must be about 30?
Parents are guarding them really well, what's the best food for them and how often?
