I haven't tested the water but I think its soft. No limescale in kettle and soap and shampoo bubbles up a lot lol Rams it is then. What's the ratio? is it 2F to 1M like the gourami I had? Any other fish that would look good do you think? :)

Hey, I started up a tank around 6 months ago and now my gourami have died, over a period of a few months. All water stats are good and i read on here that quite a few people no longer keep them due to them not lasting very long. My tank is 70l and now contains 4 glass catfish, 7 cardinal...

Shouldn't take long at all, maybe like a day. Should have mostly cleared over night, i have sand and it went so cloudy but settled after a day.

Not got the tank up here yet only know its a 70l. My bro is bringing it up on monday with some mature media too :D. I shall look more into it then but may end up going back to the neon tetras and gourami idea. Cheers though :D

So your saying i should go for the new world ones. I know the tank is too small for angels so i shall search for others :) How many would it be possible to keep??? How many labs do you think for a 70l tank? :/

Im starting up a tank on monday :) and was originaly going to make it neon tetras and plecs with a couple of small gourami. However now im wondering if i could make it into a cichlid tank because i really like the look of them. Is a 70l tank big enough. It will be cycled and over filtered...

I have herd of feeding the fish using the net every so often so they come towards it which is a good idea. Not really a fix for short term though :(

Personally i think that the little piece of paper is a great idea. Surely if you are an experienced fish keeper then you wont want to lie and put unsuitable fish in you tank.... and if your not an experienced fish keeper then you wont know what there looking for and will therefore either look...

Yea i have been to the stockport one... The massive reef tank is amazing!! Weird the bettas are in tanks all next to each other though... Got quite a bit of stuff for my "soon to be" tank there, heater, filter, gravel etc. the post code is SK4 2BE...

Good point. Is it likely they would leach salts and stuff into the water and kill the fish??

Rocks? Can i just collect rocks from outside?? I take it i would have to steralise them? Luckily i could have them autoclaved or i supose i could boil them in a pan of water.. :P Using silcone to glue them together might look good. :) Has anyone done anything creative in their tank?

I will deffo be keeping on top of water changes and quality. Don't want to waste money on a fish and end up killing it because im not doing things properly. :) I will deffo attatch some photos and ask for improvements when its done. :D

Thats not too small then. I rang my LFS "oasis aquarium manchester" there ment to be really good.. And they sell young and adult neons. Think ill end up buying adults for effect, and they should be thougher no? Seems like the setup might be: 10 neons 2-3 gourami 1-2 plec and maybe hatchet?

I like the look of neons but i cant get an idea of how small they are. :( I like small fish but don't want them to be microscopic lol

I think i would rather have the neons but i have read somewhere that they are hard to keep and should be in an established tank. But if you got 20 and they lived then think i might try them. Just a few at first and if there ok then add more. So.... 8 or so neons 2-3 honey gourami 2 plec :D :D

Urmm whats that in dumbass language. how do you measure fish?? sounds stupid i know but do you include everything i.e. mouth to end of fin? How large are harlequins compared to neons and which, in your opinions, are nicer. which school more and are more active?? Cheers for the response!! :D

Ace that would be cool then... How much bigger are the harlequins than the neon tetra?? How many of each would i be able to have with 2 gourami and 2 plec? -_- I already have the tank and the lid is completly sealed so should be ok. I could drop the water level too??

Honey gourami look nice.. how many would be good? Would just 2 be ok as like a center piece? I do like the look of plecs. The pitbull plec was one of the ones i considered :) . Are plecs hardy too or do they require specific narrow conditions? Are there some fish i should be avoiding also?

Thats good. nice to hear you had neons as your first fish as they are my fav :) !! It will be one of the plecs which stay small. I was reading the small plec post earlier and there re quite a few. Do you know if harlaquin rasbora are tougher and a safer bet than the neons? cheers

Mines just my name then 3shoes. Easy to remember and it would have been 2 shoes .. like "goody 2 shoes" but it was taken when i did my xbox 360 membership so its 3 shoes. Had to compromise :( but think its for the better :D

Sorry she has just realised its the other way around... a red body and black tail. It was in a LFS at home so no pics.. I thought it was a red tailed shark too..... I know its a long shot as theirs not much to go on but she's adamant she wants them... Cheers Heres a pic she drew... sorry
