Im starting up a tank on monday :) and was originaly going to make it neon tetras and plecs with a couple of small gourami.
However now im wondering if i could make it into a cichlid tank because i really like the look of them. Is a 70l tank big enough. It will be cycled and over filtered..
Cheers :D

erm.. -_- which are easier/ better/suitable?? lol
I have seen you have cichlids, what do you have?? :)

Well - New worlds are things like rams, angels etc. (I believe)

Old ones are the species from african lakes (mbune cichlids) Lake malawi etc.

- I have a 95ltr. and many people say its to small for old cichlids (which i respect) - So I am getting 3 old cichlids, (labs) as they're not agressive and will see if they pair up, and in the end im going to end up with 2 of them hopefully.

So your saying i should go for the new world ones. I know the tank is too small for angels so i shall search for others :)
How many would it be possible to keep??? How many labs do you think for a 70l tank?
:/

Labs will be to big for your tank. - Look into stuff German Blue Rams etc. Although im still learning, and far from an expert so post a thread in the New World Cichlids and give them your dimensions of your tanks etc. They will help you out :good:

hey!

well, german rams can't go in there at all, along with other rams they need around 20 gallons minimum; they are stunning though!

if you are looking for some around your tank size, you might get away with a pair of apistogrammas; possibly the cockatoo cichlid and MAYBE the apistogramma agasazzi.

also, like youngfisher said, can we have a tank piccy or dimensions? as these kind of fish need ground space, they are bottom dwellers :)

g'luck! :good:

Not got the tank up here yet only know its a 70l. My bro is bringing it up on monday with some mature media too :D. I shall look more into it then but may end up going back to the neon tetras and gourami idea.

Cheers though :D

Well either way you have many people here to help :good: - You could look for different species aswell, there are tons out there! Just find a fish you like then just post a topic and people will tell you everything you need to know :good:
