Ways Of Catching Fish?

Well We need to get 4 serpea tetras out of one tank, to put in the other, but the tank is quite full of plants, ornaments etc. But as soon as the net touchs the water, they hide and are so fast!

I need to get them out to put with the others so they stop attacking my other tetras etc.

Any advise?

you could try a fish trap

or just strip everything and net them

you could try leaving the net in the tank for a while so they get used to it being there? I dont know if that would help, worth a try though!

if you could take out some water it would give them less room to move around

or,

make the room dark and leave the lights off all day, then at about 9pm or 10pm try catching them. they will be really slow at that time

i have 3 fish i want to rehome soon, and they are REALLY fast but i notice if i leave the lights off for a day and come to check on them before bed they are slow

2 nets helps try to use 1 to scare the fish into the other net . even this doesnt work sometimes. ive had times where the fish was so slippery ive had to resort to removing all decor and chasing it around a bare tank .

I have herd of feeding the fish using the net every so often so they come towards it which is a good idea.

Not really a fix for short term though

hmmm well, i dont know if this is a safe idea but ill say!

At about 2 hours after the light switches of, well 1 hour most likely; my tetras are almost "sleeping" they are completely pale, and just flot in the tank, or stay very close to the ground; they do not react to anything! If i was to move my hand close they wouldn't notice it. I caught one that way, then turned the lights on, he seemed fine!

put a treat it like abloodwork, as he goes near... NET!

I've just had half an hour of catching fish tonight, so have gained a few techniques. I find that tetras and other nippy fish, too quick to be able to be chased into a net. I found it was easiest to lower the water level and then slowly chase the fish to the water surface enclosing it with two nets, and then quickly lifting the net out of the water, hopefully with the fish inside. Another way was to get the fish near a flat surface like the glass side, and then with two nets enclose the fish so it has nowhere to go. Then make your move by quickly moving one net (the smallest) into the other net, and the fish will hopefuly end up in the larger net.

However when one thing works for one person it most likely won't work for another, so I advise to have persistance, and you will probably end up finding a method which works for you.

I had sick fish I needed to catch. I had to bring the water level to about 6 inches take all big decoration out and chase them. They were sick and still were hard to catch. Bet then my bettas are So easy to get. Put some food in get a clear cup behind them lower it in and the water flowing in to the cup gets them every time.
