At what age did your oldest Cories lay viable eggs?

I was active a few years ago but now that I am retired I got back into Cories. I have a group of 4 Long Fin Aeneus Cories in a tank that I figured were retired. I started to feed them more and give them some brine shrinp. All of a sudden I noticed that there were 6 fry in the tank. The fry...

How Long Does It Take For Coppered Cory To Reach Full Size

It all depends on what you consider to be selling size. It also depends on what you feed them, how much you feed them, how clean you keep their water and a myriad of other factors.

    Bronze Cory Fry Deaths

I have some aeneus fry that are a month old.  I am seeing what you are seeing.   There have been times that I have asked on the forum, "what percentage of your fry reach maturity".  I have never received an answer, from anyone.   Either people are embarrassed to say OR if they tell the truth...

    Bronze Cory Fry Deaths

Yes, some fry ARE stronger than others.  Every batch has 1 or 2 fry that seem to be always looking for food.  These are the largest fry. Other fry just sit on the bottom.  They are usually the smallest.

    Panda Egg?

WOW! Thanks. This is news to me. This would make things a lot easier for me. Now all I have to do is train them to lay their eggs on the metal thermometers. :) jelloz

    Problems Raising Cory Sterbai Fry

Good luck with the eggs. As the breeders get older, you tend to get more eggs. Also, as your skills at raising them improve, they will take up more and more space and tanks in your homw. How many sterbai have to raised so far? Let's say past 3 weeks of age?

    Problems Raising Cory Sterbai Fry

Elaine: You are doing the right things. Going back to your original post, you talk about a "flea" creature in the water. Those could be daphnia. They are actually called "water fleas". http://lawrencehallofscience.org/foss/fossweb/teachers/materials/plantanimal/daphnia.html If yes, they are...

    Problems Raising Cory Sterbai Fry

I also have a better success rate for 30-40 eggs at a time than 150 eggs at a time. From now on, I am going to break the 150 egg batches into tubs of 30-40 eggs and see how that works.

    Problems Raising Cory Sterbai Fry

Hi Elaine: From the sounds of it, the only thing that I could think of is that maybe the filters are squeezed out so much that there is very little "food" in them anymore. Possibly your Sterbai have ramped up their production of eggs and now the food source has been tapped out. I would try to...

Getting Fed Up With My Gold/green Stripe Corys

Did I write that I did not do any research on them? Please show me where I did. I must have missed it. I know what natural behavior is for cories, I have others and have had them for 40 years. OK, so I bought these in December of 2008. Show me ONE or TWO references where it says they hide...

Getting Fed Up With My Gold/green Stripe Corys

It is not like I haven't tried. I added gravel, bar bottom, Sand bottom, plants, no plants, plastic pants, light, no light, dither fish every combination and I never see them. If you have 6 now and are going to buy 7 more, that is 13. I have 10, I don't think 3 more would change things but...

Getting Fed Up With My Gold/green Stripe Corys

Stress? Tip toeing by them causes them to go crazy. All cories react to vibration but these guys go crazy. Why give them to someone who will enjoy them? There is nothing to enjoy. Heck, plant a tank with no fish. It is the same thing. What do I have to lose, maybe I will make a break...

Getting Fed Up With My Gold/green Stripe Corys

I thought that it was just MY gold stripes that were doing this. After reading the posts above, I decided to take another approach. Instead of babying them, I am going to intentionally bump their tank, each time I walk by. Heck it can't hurt, and this is the only way I get to see them. I...

    Gender Of Pygmy Cories

There is a one-in-eight chance they will all be males or they will all be females. Hence there is a seven-in-eight chance that you will get at least 1 of each sex.

Is There Anything Wrong With My Cory?

Incredibly, I also have a Sterbai with a mark in almost the same place. It seems to shrink the more I do water changes but it never totally goes away. It also moves around slightly. Same cicumstances. Other cories and other Sterbai in the tank are affected. If you like, PM me with the state...

    Grey/black Corydoras Aeneus

Thanks Kia but the picture does not really represent the real colors of the fish. Since I took it on a white background, the white came through. I am no Frank Falcone type of photographer. I had just taken the fish out of their tank and put them into a plastic tank to transport them. All of...

    Grey/black Corydoras Aeneus

In the group of about 75 Aeneus Cories that I have raised, I found this Grey/Black one. There is no chance that it is anything else. None of the parents were Grey/Black. I had to crop the picture to get it to upload. In the background you can see a portion of a normally colored sibling. Is...

    Cory Shoaling

Then they are old enough to breed. Have you decided whether you are going to take the eggs out of the tank or take the fish out of the tank or put them into a floating container? Do you a tank ready to put them in? Do you have food to feed them with?

Were the fish that you bought the ones that the breeder used to breed with or were they just babies from his breeders?

    Questions About Cory Growth

I just thought I would follow up on my situation. I was not feeding the baby catfish newer food soon enough. In the past I was doing no food for 2 days after hatching, then filter squeezings for 3 days, then 3 days of Liquifry, then finely ground flake food for a few days, then FBBS. I was...

    Questions About Cory Growth

Inch: You got that right. It takes me about 45 minutes a day to take care of the 12 Aeneus Catfish. I also have another group that is about 2 weeks old right now. I am looking for any better ideas to make this work. I did go out and buy some play sand today. I also found the microworms on...
