Being a bass, when he grows up he will eat all of your fancy guppies which in my opinion shouldn't be kept with koi as koi are a type of goldfish and guppies are tropical. How big is your tank?

Actually several people on here will point out as I will that undergravel filters really serve no real purpose in filtration, and simply are a waist of time and will limit the amount fish/types/etc. I would simply use a external or internal filter, and get rid of the undergravel.

I have a Cascade 700 it filters up to 65 gallons, of course they do make smaller ones. So far its been running great!

IMO, I would suggest adding a couple of hardy fish and getting you a automatic fish feeder, as for the fish i would get three platies (1m/2f) they are pretty hardy and you wouldnt worry about ruining your cycle.

I agree....no matter the size, ALL tanks need to be cycled even as small as a 1 gallon and as large as 900 gallons.

Cherry barbs are normally the peaceful out of the barbs, so they should work but just watch to make sure.

I have actually done the cycling with alone fish and it was a female blue mickey mouse platy, she survived and I still have her today! The tank was a 5 gallon planted eclipse. Thats just my luck

Assuming I am right...your tank is 33 gallons...2 silver sharks shouldnt belong in there because they require a much larger tank! They get very big and a 33 gallon could stunt there growth, as for the angel fish i believe it was mentioned that black widow tetras are very nippy, and angel fish...

I would recommend house geckos...small little lizard, and cute as a button! Fairly inexpensive as well! would work in 10 or 15 high, but 15 high would be better since they love to climb! http://www.house-gecko.com/ thats a good website for info about them!

Hey all! I bought my first plec to go into my 65 gallon tall! Its a baby, probably 1 1/2-2inches and has bright yellow spots and a large top fin it was called a Hifin Spotted Pleco in the store. Anyone have any good websites or possible info about them?

The reason you lost your fish is because your tank didnt have enough time to cycle, 4-6 weeks is the recommended length of time. People have different opinions about spring water because it may carry stuff that tap water carries and isnt as pure as it says it is. There are several articles...

Yep! Convicts are the killer rabbits of the fish world, breeding like crazy and defending there eggs/babies with a big temper!!! I have a single female and she is somewhat temperamental at times, but most of the time she keeps to herself. Beautiful fish, but recommended if a pair kept in there...

I dunno seems like one of those people who ask for advice, pretend or make up an excuse about listening and never respond and therefore the fish are the ones that suffer....poor things.

Do you have any sharp objects in the tank? I dont think any of those fish in your tank would have bothered him....unless the angels teamed up on him....but maybe something sharp? Just a guess on my part.

Hmmm...maybe a trio of dwarf gouramis (1 male, 2 female) or a pair if you have enough plant cover, hiding places, etc.

I may be wrong but I think it is a birth defect, and some feel sorry for the fish and keep it till it lives its life out and some people get rid of it. None of your other fish would be affected, and the decision is up to you to do what you want with it.

You dont listen....if you did then you would remove all your fish and let the tank cycle for 4-6 weeks before adding fish....and ur friend would do the same. your just killing defenseless animals

I dont think you understand what everyone is saying....The ammonia will never go down as long as you keep that amount of fish in that small of a tank, no matter how many changes you do to the water....Why dont you ask your mother to get you a much large aquarium such as a 30 or 40 gallon...also...

As for the female convict, honestly I have done my research and she is the only convict I am going to have. I know how aggressive a male and female pair can be and how they will kill every fish in my tank once they have eggs and baby fish. Thats why she will remain the only one in there, as for...

Hey all! I have had my established 65 gallon tank set up for about 3 weeks now. Purchased it with a already mature canister filter 700, and the current stocking levels are in my sig...My question is can I add 1-2 yellow labs? I really love there color and I am thinking about adding some caves...

You could possibly add a female betta in there and just watch to see what happens, if any aggression occurs you can remove it and then place it in its own tank. As I have a female betta with two neon tetras and there is no aggression as of now. *knock on wood*, so it may work for you to!

Thanks for the replies! The angel is actually quite bigger than the con, and she doesnt bother the platies or the guppy so far so good but I will watch out for what you said to!
