Not to sure. My daughter brought them home from a town festival here in Japan.
I don't think it is done very humanely, but couldn't turn them away.
They seem happy enough now, and the blue pregnant one's ink is fading now.

Dyed fish anit done very humanely i hear an extremely large percentage of them die during the process above 50%

That tank looks wonderful! How big is it? Also, the bumblee bee goby is a brackish water fish so I don't know how it'll do in that tank for a permanite settlement.

Thanks. The tank is 80cm x 40 x 40.
As for the bumblebee goby, I have read a few articles across the net that there are two types. a true bumblebee and a "gold banded"? the latter being a brackish water only, and the true bumblebee happily living in both fresh and brackish. With mine being a true bumblebees, I included them in the tank.
There is no signs of them being unhappy, or ill. Infact out of all the fish, they seem to be the ones in charge in the tank!

Again these were articles I have read across the net, so it's to be taken with a pinch of salt, and I shall keep an eye on them.

in singapore, we used to have fishes tatooted with numbers like 1 ,2 3 ,4 etc etc sold in pet stores ... and some superstitious people would go and buy some fishes and take the number tatooed on the fishes to buy "4d". 4d is a gambling game where u choose any 4 random numbers and u buy them, at the end of the week, the winning numbers would be shown on tv and if u win, u can win big bucks...

for example u buy the number combo : 4495 or 3381...and the winning number comes out as 3381...and if ur numbers match u win, depending on how much u bet on...

So you have 49 fish in a 30 gallon tank? With the water like 2 inches shy of the top its more like 26 gallons.

at least you didnt kill them,,,it is awful people even bother to tattoo fish, cant see how its viable even for a bussiness, as over 50% die

tank looks good, just avoid tattooed fish if you see them in the shop, dont pay into it
