unless you have the time and effort to maintain your tank i wouldnt suggest you get one, water needs to be filtered really well, you have to keep your P.H levels stable at around 6.5-7.0, all the features need to be kept clean an all together no an easy fish to keep

hey, yeah thanks for your thoughts i love some of those cichlids but i have a community tank with some small fish like neons i didnt think i could have them because they would eat some? is this right or are there exceptions?

as long as you use proper slate and wash them it wont effect your tank at all dont just use hot water out the tap as filters cant remove the metals used to heat tap water

just long enough for them to get clean, depends how dirty they are really or just use something like a toothbrush to get in the divits if you want them right away

im not entirely sure the live about 8-10 years so would think it would take a while for them to get really bit but they dart around alot so watch they dont jump out your tank :crazy: when they start to get big they can also eat some small fish too

bristle nose will be fine lol these shouldnt grow much more than 4inches

boil the kettle and pour into a bowl or summit then just let the slate sit in it for a while this should get the slate clean an will be fine to go straight into your tank hope that helps

any of the fluval filters should do ya but buy off ebay i would reccomend as they are about a quarter of the price

depends on what external filter you buy ion my one there is a flow limiter which would be perfect for you.

sounds like a normal fungal infection one of my angels had a fluff ball on its nose a fungal treatment should sort it it did for me! be careful though as can harm delicate fish hope that helps good luck

hey i also new on here! i have a very large community and i have 3 plecs one which is about 12 inchs long brings alot to the tank an doesnt harm any other fish or you could go for some odesa barbs i think they called really pretty they are silver with a vibrant red line running the length on...

think that it would be interesting to see the results and for instance cross a goldie with a zebra plec would be something quite special

hey no i dont have another tank i could use unfortunatly. i got a 500l tank and most of my fish are quite small but things like my tiger barbs would still enjoy the fry! oh an i saw the angel laying. think the eggs are not fertile now tho as they have gone white :sad: but they should lay again...

my angelfish laid eggs on my glass magnet cleaner should i leave them be or put the whole thing into a breeding box? i have around 70 fish in my tank and am just worried that they might be eaten as eggs or when they hatch and im not around to save them!?

maybe edge the temperature up a little seems quite cold to me an shouldnt hurt your others to give it a try will prob make them more active too!
