Hi guys

Basically I'm thinking about putting slate in my tank that I have collected from my garden. I was just wondering how I would go about preparing them? My tank is already cycled so will I need to clean them in de-chlorined (?) water? Will bottled water be okay?

Thanks In advance.

boil the kettle and pour into a bowl or summit then just let the slate sit in it for a while this should get the slate clean an will be fine to go straight into your tank hope that helps

Thanks for your reply. How long shall I let the slate sit for?

just long enough for them to get clean, depends how dirty they are really or just use something like a toothbrush to get in the divits if you want them right away

They aren't really that dirty, I just want to make sure that they wont affect my tank.

as long as you use proper slate and wash them it wont effect your tank at all dont just use hot water out the tap as filters cant remove the metals used to heat tap water

Okay, I've put them in boiling water and I've attempted to scrub them. Theyve been in there for about 10 mins. Now what?

Arrange them in your tank, and layback and watch. :good:
