Angelfish Being Nipped - Going Away On Sunday.

Hi there... sorry to hear about your problem. I had a thought about the nipping issue you have in your tank. In such a small tank, you may find certain fish becoming more aggressive especially barbs (even in shoals), staking there claim over the tank. I also have angels and was advised by my...

Could there be an issue with your dechlorinator as this and the ph seem to be the only 2 influential factors? Silly question, but could it have got contaminated/ gone off etc...

Whats Wrong With My Tank? High Acid....

Did you say a fish jumped out of the tank? This can be a sign of ph incompatibility. Also it would be helpful to know how many times you do water changes, how much water, and whether you added dechlorinator. Also, any chemicals added to the tank? Like ph upper/downer? Also did you cycle your...

    Bloated Zebra Danio

I've been having the same sort of problem with one fat danio in particular and in a slightly unrelated topic, I got a few helpful replies regarding bloating/ constipation and the effects it can have on the fish. Check out the link here. hope this helps in some way. In particular check out...

Does sound like a possiblity... I have the same problem. What do you feed them and how many times? De-shelled peas would help with the constipation.

And Then There Were 5...dead Fish Overnight

IMHO, it's definitely 0! Well done. So thats your NitrItes. Your Ammonias are 0? Your NitrAtes are 5? I think you're fine to leave off the water change this evening. Maybe check in the morning to see if the levels have risen. If so (Above 0.25-0.5 for Ammonia and NitrItes) do a water change.

How Can I Stop My Other Fish Eating The Plec's Wafer?

Definitely will keep an eye on the over-feeding and will go to my lfs at the weekend and look into getting the frozen food. I was thinking about it last week, but was a little unsure of how many times in a week to feed them the frozen food. At the moment I feed the fish every 1-2 days on the...

How Can I Stop My Other Fish Eating The Plec's Wafer?

Thanks so much for all your points above. Very very helpful. At the moment I have only fed them cucumber twice in one week, and will keep it at once a week. I will definitely give the algae wafers a go after dark. I think in the case of my "fatties" (as I like to call them) they return to...

How Can I Stop My Other Fish Eating The Plec's Wafer?

Nope, meant my other fish. only have one plec. I have only fed the cucumber a couple of times as I wanted to introduce a new food, and we haven't had the plec long. and will definitely try to hold off on the cucumber so to not let him get too attached. What's your thoughts on the peas and my...

How Can I Stop My Other Fish Eating The Plec's Wafer?

They are a little pudgy, i was considering doing the peas... but was worried they'd get fatter :( Sounds like a great idea. Will have a look tonight where he hangs out. The problem was our LFS told us to put it in in the morning so it will "soften"... obviously the other fish can then find it

How Can I Stop My Other Fish Eating The Plec's Wafer?

We feed the plec cucumber also, he loves it, but funnily enough, the other fatties do too! I'm now starving them for the rest of the week bar a cucumber slice in a couple of days

How Can I Stop My Other Fish Eating The Plec's Wafer?

So the question is in the title? The problem is the other fish (zebra danios, rummy nose tetras, guppies, angels) looooovvvveee the wafers and keep picking at it getting fatter and fatter! This is worrying because I don't want the plec to go without food Any suggestions as to how I can stop the...

Newbie Who Wishes He Was Here Before He Bought & Filled His Tank&#

If it is like an oily film, you can place kitchen towel (like Bounty or similar) on the top of the surface which soaks it up and then just take out the paper. Hope this helps. BTW, I was in the same situation as you, same tank, plants, fish. It's like looking in a mirror. I would stick with...

And Then There Were 5...dead Fish Overnight

As you are showing 0 Ammonia, the addition of Biospira looks to have got the cycling process going. However, without the ability to check your nitrItes and nitrAtes it is going to be difficult to establish what the problem in your tank is and why the fish died. By the sounds of it, your tank is...

    New Tank

Cycling Ammonia and NitrIte are both toxic to fish in relatively small amounts, so this conversion is absolutely necessary. NitrAte is less toxic to the fish, but we still have to maintain the tank and not let the levels get too high. We do this through regular water changes, which essentially...

    Water Change And Bits

Aren't mum's great! When i started (not long ago) I bought all these bottles, thinking they would save time and effort. But now, after doing the research on here, know that fish health doesn't come s easily and actually look forward to ding my weekly change. Sad, I know!

    Water Change And Bits

Most people on here wouldn't recommend relying on the "solution in a bottle" method, but rather do the hard graft and change the water. All you really need is a good dechlorinator that gets rid of chlorine, chloramine and heavy metals for trating the new tank water.

Hi Guys, I've had my fish about 5 weeks now and at the moment they eat only flake food and only being fed every 1-2 days. i really want to start giving them more than just flake food, ie. incorporating live food and vegetables, but really unsure what to give them, how many times, and how I...

My Zebra Danio Is Taking On Colour Characteristics Of My Golden Danio&

When we bought them, they were labelled as golden danios, so this is all I know them as. I guess they may just be a crossbreed of the zebra with another. After doing some more research on the family, I've seen that this is quite common in getting new fish types. Thanks Wolf for that bit. Very...
