Hi, thanks for the reply. I haven't added anything new to the tank for months. I wondered if our Christmas tree was to blame as it was right next to the tank, but i find that hard to believe!

    Cloudy Water, Not Sure Why!

Hello everyone, Not been around for ages, which I guess shows my tank has been functioning perfectly! It’s just turned 4 years old in the last few days and suddenly the water seems to have got cloudy and I can't clean it up. I have tried a massive water change, approx 60% but no joy. Have...

    Your Favourite Alcoholic Beverage

If I was watching the world cup a glass of cyanide would be welcome. If I was watching proper sport, i.e. not a poor excuse for exercise, I would want a pint of Bowman Ales - Wallops Wood. The best ale in the world. Roll on 2pm when I wake from my night shift today!

    Bamboo Shrimp

A good method of target feeding is to setup a ledge near your output flow. It will soon find its way into the flow of water. When you feed the fish I used a pipette to suck up some flake and send it his way. Sadly I have failed to keep a filter shrimp alive for longer than 9 months :( They...

Think I Might Have Too Many Shrimp These Days....

25 kg deep!! You can never have too much gravel! Plus my plants love it, the roots creep all over the tank and sprout up everywhere! I've always gone for deep gravel, allows loads of bacteria to develop, just need to keep on top of cleaning it! My secret to healthy shrimp? No fish that eat...

Think I Might Have Too Many Shrimp These Days....

I brought 10 cherry shrimp off eBay about 18 months ago. When I added them I was sure most got eaten. 18 months down the line they seem to be ok!!! Sorry for the quality, Iphones are rubbish and I’ve had to recode so the video is correctly orientated!

    Internal Fillter Removal Advice Please.

It’s all down to the right knife!! Go to your local hardware shop and buy a pallet knife. I tried all types and once I had the above it is dead easy!!! Get a big one as the lower suckers will need a good bit of work to remove. I did my RIO 240 and it adds so much more space! Also, don't...

I work for NATS or National Air Traffic Services as we are more commonly know. You may have heard of us over the last few weeks!!! :look: My role is not to talk to the planes, I’m responsible for the FDP (flight data processing) system that drives the whole show. Interesting work, pays well...

    Eheim Electronic Gravel Cleaner

So, I’ve been wondering if it was worth buying one of these for a while, my usual method ends up with me draining about 75 litres and only cleaning half the tank. It would also suck up my gravel too. So this morning after waiting for a few days my eBay item arrived. £40 all in. Fired her up...

Cory Loosing Its Tail? Not Sure Why

Age wise id say its probably 2-3 yrs old now and has spawned a few times along the way. Any ideas...

Will Java Moss Attach Itself To Anything

It will only sticik to a surface that has something to grip onto. Ie if your rock has lots of jagged edges and pits it'll be fine. If the surface is smooth and shiny it will not stick, you will need to key it up first.

Just For Fun: What's The Wierdest Deco You've Seen Or

When I kept fish as a youngster I had a skull that I used to have in my tank. When I broke it down it ended up on my dads study window sill where it stayed for 10 yrs + 3 years ago when I got back into the hobby again I stole it back much to his annoyance and it now homes my adult male BN!

What If You Don't Want To Breed?

I have 9 albino corys, they produce about 100 eggs over a 4-5 hour period when spawning. If i leave the eggs they will all be gone within a few hours. I have never had a baby, hatch, survive and grow out in my community tank. If you don't want more, leave the eggs, they will get eaten.

I Think I Found Out Why 10 Fish Died On The Weekend

So, I read the first 5-7 posts then gave up. My experience: I have had two bags of carbon in my 305 for around 9-12 months now!!! The same carbon as it came with, I have simply not bothered to replace it. My tank runs perfectly balanced and i only water changes every 10 days.

    Filter Disaster!

Sorry to hear about your filter problems. I always try to run two of everything, builds in some redundancy in case you have a hardware failure like this.
