I brought 10 cherry shrimp off eBay about 18 months ago. When I added them I was sure most got eaten. 18 months down the line they seem to be ok!!!

Sorry for the quality, Iphones are rubbish and I’ve had to recode so the video is correctly orientated!

very funny

think you should write a guide on how to keep them fit, healthy and happy :)

You're obviously doing something right

Never mind the crazy amount of shrimp, how deep is your gravel!!!?!!?!

25 kg deep!! You can never have too much gravel! Plus my plants love it, the roots creep all over the tank and sprout up everywhere!

I've always gone for deep gravel, allows loads of bacteria to develop, just need to keep on top of cleaning it!

My secret to healthy shrimp? No fish that eat them and loads of Java Moss attached to wood, seems to work for me.

Your shrimp army looks very lovely :D. I agree there is no limit on gravel depth if you keep it clean. Waste can build up at a rate the plants can deal with then its fine, which is how a normal planted tank functions w/o any gravel cleaning. I've found if you have excess waste, like under the log where my two caecilians live, problems develop. Gravel is not even deep and vaccumed regularly due to sulfur gases building up. Its also just the gravel under and around the burrow, not the whole tank that is effected.

Shrimp only tanks are definatly key to raising shrimp in massive numbers. Or going with fish you know don't eat them. I don't feel java moss is key. Spawning mops can be a good shrimp substitute to java moss. My shrimp love spawning mops and my filters.

Cheers everyone.

Not selling them as i've posted before and its a real PITA.

If you live near Winchester, your welcome to collect some!

Just got a Eheim Electric Gravel Cleaner. Possibly the best gadget i have for the fish, gravel vacs are now fun!
