Do gravel vac the gravel or a sludge will build up over months, the bacteria will be fine. Its like umm........ blowing crumbs off a chopping board, it will leave it clean but there will still be bacteria all over it, most of the bacteria cant just be blown or sucked away but the bigger bread...

Hi all, just a quicky. what asian aquarium fish (not to big because i only have 30 gallon tanks) would tolerate a salinity that would be agreeable to red claw crabs? I like these guys but they wouldnt tolerate the freshwater of my barb aquarium anymore than the barbs would tolerate brakish...

Slept strait thru it lol, only went to bed about 5am that morning tho so i was still in the middle of my 'deep sleep'. It woke my girlfriend up who was staying round mine, she said my tiger barbs didnt seem to like it :)

Ive wondered the same about burning insence in my room. my airpumps on the floor tho and even when the smell of insence fills the room there doesnt seem to be much smell for the first 1ft off the ground (yes i got flat on my belly and sniffed)

I think my LFS is getting abit fed up with me because over half the times i go there i look around (getting in the way i suppose) for around 20 mins then leave without buying anything! Im just making a list of fish i like, new products ect then go home and research them on the net or ask...

My 2 cents.... I live in the uk, have a 2' - 2.5' deep pond abit smaller than joemuz. never been heated and had happy breeding goldfish in it for around 6 years now, on about 2nd/3rd generation goldfish mixed in with originals now. Heating would be uber expencive and not needed in my view

Id def recommend a filter system or at least a fountain, some of them are so cheap to buy or make. Oxiginating plants are good, the fish will love them and they will help the water chemistry abit but the name is misleading, they do very very little to oxygenate the water.

Too be fair the biggest one that went missing was only 2" so the other few would be 1"-1.5". Basically little more than fry.

The only thing i can say is that i used to think my pond housed about 10 frogs but every year i find around 20 dead frogs yet my ponds always full of them again come spring. It is a shame but the frog population doesnt seem to suffer to much

Its happened alot in my pond over the last 5+ years. I think its some sort of fungal dieases thats now very common in the uk. I think fish can be carriers but it only harms frogs. Sorry in a real rush. Il look it up and add a better reply later

I bought some fish from the LFS today, in one tank they had about 10 3" Ghost koi and some goldfish. 9 looked great, 1 had small growths on him as was a common ghost carp so wasnt as pretty as the other mirror ghosts.. I didnt see which one got netted but i bet you can guess when i looked after...

They def can get up to that size (18") but not unless its a massive aquarium or in the wild, talked to afew people who said theres stop growing and stayed at 5-6" for years! most reach 8" befor stopping. Very hardy fish too. over time mine have been cooked (28oC) and still fed happily, acidently...
