I am using a drop checker to monitor c02 levels in my tank,using the 4dkh solution and it goes green ok but but stays green overnight with co2 off.I have no co2 leaking into tank and have very slight surface movement so i would of thought it would go blue,is there anything else that could affect...

i have left some water for a while before testing ph from tap and its now reading 7.2,should the water be left awhile?

If my ph out of tap is 7.0 and kh is 10 this shows up as 32 on the chart,if i get my ph down to 6.6 it shows up on chart as 81,but my drop checker is still green this is why im confused. any help would be great thanks

Hi my plants grow well but i was wanting to try creating a carpet effect using glosso or dwarf hairgrass so can i do it? I have a 48"x12"x12" tank,the lights are 14" above the substate,all fitted with light reflectors,the lights are 2x48" arcadia freshwater tubes 36w (rear and centre) 1x42"...

Hi got my hands on jbl permanent co2 test,it only takes 2 drops of solution but i am a bit concerned,if the solution inside was to leak into my tank(although it has not,and should not)would it kill my my fish? thanks karl

Hi thanks for reply yes i meant 6 fish(Lamprologus multifasciatus)and yes my gh is 17 straight out of the tap,but test kit is a couple of years old but im sure it was that when i tested it before.I hope the bristle nose will be ok hes never eaten a fish yet and has been in with very small fish...

Hi thinking of setting up a tank for some shell dwellers(6 multi`s)just wondering if i will have to buffer up my ph.I am getting a reading of around 7.8,would i be right in thinking this will go up a little when shells are added? The tank size is 48 x12x12,which is already cycled just cleared...

well i`m a bit of an animal i ate a giant moth and several daddy long legs when i got drunk but i felt really sick when i thought about what i had done in the morning :sick: apart from that spinach really sucks

I also will say if a cat comes in our garden if the dogs get it im afraid it will be no more(like a poor old hedgehog)but i certainally would not encourage my dogs to attack anything like the owners of the dog in question and i think this is the main concern

I must say you have done the right thing reporting it to the dog warden and rightly said dogs behaviour is 9 times out of 10 down to the owners and some people who have these dogs are just idiots.I have 2 staffy bull terriers (one from which i got from a rescue centre) and they will just lick...

I just used a disposable gas bottle and a normal regulator no needle valve and my output is 2 bubbles a second and its been stable for a couple of months without any problems :hyper:

I mix 9g approx 1 tablespoon of trace element mix with 500ml of distilled water,i think 1ml = 1 ppm thats for 100l i think. I`m sure someone will correct me if im wrong,dont know about adding it dry though

I just gently squirted flourish excel on the effected algae area when overdosing with exel and it turns it red almost instantly and then turns white and is gone within a couple of days

I do 50% water changes i have some 5 gallon buckets which i fill the night before I put a heater, dechlorinator and run an airstone in each bucket :D

when my rocks got manky covered in algae etc i boiled them gave em a good scrub good as new

I use the EI method and i have exactly the same problem with plants in one of my tanks,my co2 is fine so i have upped the trace and started adding potassiun sulphate hoping this solves the problem

Try good old argos Chris they sell halogen desk lamps

I just rinse and check for snails and eggs takes a little time sometimes i float the plant but i normaly just plant straight away,i would not use the bleach mixture dont think you need to :D

I keep getting crystals in the bottom of my NO3 mix,i mixed it with distilled water but every time i go to use it i have to shake it for ages until the crystals dissolve,is this because its been in the fridge,if so is it essential to keep it in the fridge.

dont know but if you measure the height of the tank and mark on the front a quarter of the tank,do a 25% water change (down to that mark)and measure what you take out with a measuring jug or something simalar and times it by 4 you will have your capacity thats what i would do lol

I would treat with the melafix and get an airstone running not alot else you can do really i am surprised it ate food good luck hope it pulls through
