Weather loaches are great escape artists. They can find ways to go up tubes and stuff if I were you I'd get a nice good lid for the tank. :P

Is it greyish or whitish? Stringy, right? Might be Columnaris, a type of body fungus. If it is, you might wanna try some Maracyn by Mardel.

Ooh, that'd be a problem. I would do some as the others said. If you have a betta in a big vase, i'd put it in front of the heater temporarily until you get the power back of course. :drool:

Sand can get easily stirred up but there are good reasons to get it. It is more comfortable for many fish compared to gravel. :D

Bettas have many different species. Males have the longer wavy fins, females have short ones. They like warm water and bloodworms by the way. :P

Don't get any angelfish or bichirs, they will get stunted because of the tank size. Bottom feeders are nice and if you want some algae-eaters thats fine but plecos produce a bit more wastes you might want regulars algae-eaters though for a start. Mollies are fine too. :)

you could use one of those algae-wipers they sell in petstores that have a magnet on either side of the tank walls, but make sure that the magnet is strong enough so it will attract the wiper back to the tank wall if it falls off. Plecos eat algae too. They do produce more waste though so I...

Bettas seem to really love bloodworms. Bettas can get sick of the same food each day. Try feeding her something else she likes the other days. Dont let her get tired of any food. ~Caroline~ :fun:

So sorry for your fish. Make sure the temp. is right. If that isn't the prob, maybe its the pH level. Check all the water level, all the nitrates and stuff. Use a bucket to scoop water out of the tank or use a cleaning tube. ~Caroline~ :sad:
