We have about 15 guppy fry in a seperate tank about 4 weeks old now and just getting their colours and just did a water change this morning on my husbands tank and I saw a single fry in there too ! we dont know if its guppy or mollie but there is only one and we have just got back off holiday...

oh forgot ! my tank is two foot .

I have mollies , guppies and neon tetras .

can anyone suggest a good algae eater ? I know mollies eat it but they don't seem to be eating enough !

so if I run her filter in my tank will everything be cycled when I move it ? how long should I 'age' the filter for ? :dunno:

Can you cycle with anythinga bitmore exciting than guppies , platies or mollies ? starting up a tank for my mum ( she loves ours ) just wondered if we could get a bit more colour or something for her ?

I've been on the betta forum and got no answer , can you keep bettas with anything ? I think they are gorgeous but would like to put one in my community tank which currently has 3 tiger barbs and 3 guppies in , is it possible ? :dunno:

well , got livebearers at the moment . Would like something colourful but don't really know ! I just go to the lfs and see if theres anything colourful and pretty and ask if its compatible with what I've got .Possibly some angels or something but I don't know if my tank is big enough ! I don't...

I really like betta's and my lfs has one in and it looks a bit worse for wear looking at your lot's fine specimens ! do they live well in a community tank or can they only live alone in smaller tanks ?

I've had my tank running about 2-3 weeks now so its still cycling . I do regular water changes but this last week I'm getting this green stuff on my sand .... it looks awful ! I posted last week and was told to move the sand and cover up the green but when I do it gets buried and is back in the...

ok , I stirred the sand up last night and the green algae went , got up this morning and more patches have appeared in different places ! I can't move the sand every day . I have cut feeds to once per day and cut light down to 10 hours . Is there anything else I can do ? I don't really want to...

by increase the circulation you mean ? chuck the sand around a bit ? should i be moving it / stirring it every day ?

I've put sand in my second tank and all was well 'til this week . Now i have these green patches on my sand at the bottom . I it algae ? I've tried scooping it out and i can but i take some of the sand with it too . Any ideas on what it is and how to get rid of it and stop it coming back ? :dunno:

thanks to people who answered my questions so quick this afternoon otherwise i might not of had any left ! but my guppy had her babies today , i only counted 5 left when i moved her but when my hubby came home he went straight and had a look and he noticed a large bunch of them on the bottom so...

Thanks ! I know a pregnant guppy is not a big thing but it is when your only starting out . I'm really really pleased and can't stop watching them and counting them to make sure there still all there and ok etc .. ( sad i know )

well , i've just counted 5 fry in the seperate tank and she's back in the community now , keeping an eye on her to see if she has anymore then i will catch them and put them with the others . Thanks again . :D

ok thanks , i did'nt think if she could eat them or not ! well i can count four fry now at least ( i think there are 6 ) so I am moving her back to the community tank and leaving the fry in their tank alone with some ' first bites' i think she is still expecting but i don't want too many fry...

they are already in a seperate tank with her ( the mother ) I put her in there on sunday and she started having them about an hour or two ago , but she's had two and then stopped . Will the fry be ok if i leave her in there or should i move her back to the community tank ?

i can only count two fry , But she still has her gravid spot , does this mean she will have some more ?

hi , m female is giving birth , will she eat her fry or is it just the other fish that will eat them ? should i seperate her from the fry and if so how do you know when she has finished birthing ?

she's hanging around , hiding with my pregnant female now neither of them are eating ! Does this mean she's about to give birth and she's just supporting her or does it mean something horrible ? I think i will put them both in the fry tank waiting for her anyway and just hope everything is ok .

she seems to be a bit better today , she's hiding under the bogwood . But she was'nt gasping just fat looking and staying by her self and not eating either . She is still not eating and is by herself but is hiding at the bottom now . Any ideas ?

I think my female guppy has got swim bladder ( from what i have read on here ) she's up in the corner behind the filter on her own with a very swolen stomach ( but she's not pregnant ) and she's been there for two days now and no really eating either . Is there anything i can do for her ? is...

I've got two pregnant guppies and it was suggested that i supplement their diet with bloodworm . I have bought some today ( a small bag for 35p ) but how much do i give them and how ? they are in a bag of water and i don't fancy the idea of picking them up by hand !

i used play sand from B&Q and it is really good . it only took about half an hour to wash enough for an inch all over a 3 foot tank and no cloudyness what so ever from the moment i put the water in it was clear and still is . You do have to clean up the poo with sand though !

so how long has it took your tank to cycle ?
