I really hope you are talking F and not C there. I have never in over 8 years seen heat waves rising from a fish tank heater, its not boiling the water. I would also expect inline externals & internals to be the opposite way round there: im heating the water well away from my fish then mixing...

The issue is more down to the scales on the heaters adjuster, tank shape, water flow & position of temp sensor. To get 30º at the coldest part, the area nearest your heater will always be warmer etc. I've now got an inline heater attached to my canister which eliminates much of this problem but...

Do you mean if you turn up the temp on your heater, it exceeds the 30º you are trying to achieve?

Got to admit Techen, we dont provide or keep records in established and healthy animals unless there is something odd suddenly happening. Stores however will always have a feeding record and any young tend to have them

In the UK it tends to be the first feed: they live of the egg sack for a week or so after hatching first. Many of the places around me mark the feed as well: P for Pink, F for Fuzzy etc. etc.

We have a pair in a 24" x 18" x 18x viv. The height is a bit pointless but we got it second hand for cheap. Most information say this is fine for a trio but we think it would be a bit of a squeeze. If this egg does hatch, we will call it fate though.
