    Rewarding Myself To New Aquarium

My biology learnings will probably be failing me, but I have a memory of somewhere saying plants respond more to the blue spectrum than they do with the red. And for red plants, often all people need to do to make sure it comes out and stays alive is make sure there is iron in the suppliments??

    What Happened To My Guppy?!?

As you can see, there are a large number of parameters that need answered to even get started here. At the risk of sounding like a total a-hole, you will never find this out for sure without a necropsy being performed. Here are some possible answers: Cancer. Organ failure. Blood poisoning...

The Long Awaited Arrival Of The Infamous Agent14.. You're Welcome

Round here its a carnival aka wild rides & ghost rides & dodgems. A few miles away they make a wine called Cairn O'Mhor which when said properly sounds like care no more.

The Long Awaited Arrival Of The Infamous Agent14.. You're Welcome

I have a tendency to answer my phone at work with ¿Buenõs días, que tal? and end it with ¡Hasta luego! whilst using ja öder nein in between. If I recognise the caller I also sometimes use "yellow" instead of hello and chuck in the odd "soggy biscuits" at the end, see if they notice.

The Long Awaited Arrival Of The Infamous Agent14.. You're Welcome

Wait till you reach Scotland. My home town has its very own dialect, here is one sentence (and this is "English") Ah'll hae eh peh, a bridie, an inginganeanah an ah'll tak a telly tae. For reference, Dundee used to be the largest jute producer in the world and was extremely industrial as a...

    Lie To Me

Had a suspicion on that one. Earlier I didnt catch onto the game and jumped the gun, will just repost the same entries though: 1) I cracked my ribs and dislocated my shoulder 30 months ago simply walking (wasn't doing anything dangerous), having predicted it would happen minutes earlier. 2) I...

Get two: one roughly A4 or a bit bigger, other A5 in footprint. Move small babies into smaller tub, graduating to big tub when they grow. Makes life easy.

    Calling All Aps Aquarium Owners!

It hasnt increased the turnover (e.g. if getting 1600lph from your canister, you are still getting 1600lph, maybe less. You have increased the volume of filtration but not the amount of filtration. That said, if your water came out of the cycled system with any ammonia or nitrite I would be...

    Meet A Sandfish

In case anyone is wondering, I am sitting reading a book beside the viv, hence the extra photos. But I just caught something rare: both the sandfish out on top at the same time, in the same frame.

    Meet A Sandfish

These guys are nice in that they dont have teeth, but it would be easy to fret over whether they are eating etc. If you are doing it right and so forth for a beginner. Bugs are also mandatory. Beginner reptiles who dont like bugs much are crested geckos. Their primary diet is fruit and you get...

    Heater Problems

I really hope you are talking F and not C there. I have never in over 8 years seen heat waves rising from a fish tank heater, its not boiling the water. I would also expect inline externals & internals to be the opposite way round there: im heating the water well away from my fish then mixing...

    Heater Problems

The issue is more down to the scales on the heaters adjuster, tank shape, water flow & position of temp sensor. To get 30º at the coldest part, the area nearest your heater will always be warmer etc. I've now got an inline heater attached to my canister which eliminates much of this problem but...

Got to admit Techen, we dont provide or keep records in established and healthy animals unless there is something odd suddenly happening. Stores however will always have a feeding record and any young tend to have them

In the UK it tends to be the first feed: they live of the egg sack for a week or so after hatching first. Many of the places around me mark the feed as well: P for Pink, F for Fuzzy etc. etc.

    Meet A Sandfish

We have a pair in a 24" x 18" x 18x viv. The height is a bit pointless but we got it second hand for cheap. Most information say this is fine for a trio but we think it would be a bit of a squeeze. If this egg does hatch, we will call it fate though.

    Meet A Sandfish

Boom boom ;) The Mrs says, "funny booger eh?" haha She feels it is pertinent to point out these guys are members of the skink family and are called sandfish because you need to supply a substrate of several inches of sand as they "swim" through it.
