the best t5 tubes for plant growth on lampspecs i would say is the phillips 965, also id get 3 of the phillips and 1 sylvania grolux. for a good colour balance. the 880 skywhite is also a good bulb but the phillips is cheaper i think.

haha well patience is something you definately have to have with fishtanks hehehe, my monoselenium took over all my foreground plants and grew all inbetween them, id say the effort of making a moss wall is well worth it, you can get moss wall kits off ebay for a few quid hehe.

monoselenium can get very messy, but in the foreground it can be used a bit like riccia, id use something like a christmas moss variety, i think the back and sides of your aquarium covered in moss would look really nice, especially when the moss on the wood grows out.

because your tank is so small the wpg rule doesnt really work, small tanks need more light large tanks need less, the wpg rule only works for aquariums in the middle of that, so you definately have a low light tank, but the plants you have are perfect. :)

depends what kind of tanks your running, saltwater tanks cant be left for more than a few days, planted tanks i would say the limit on mine is about a week, also depends on your stocking level, a tank with very few fish and an oversized filter will cope better with you going away than a tank...

i have mainly seen reactors used on large tanks, that or a large ceramic diffuser at each end, with the bubbles being blown around by the filter output.

dont buy from ebay is all i can say, they will send you a load of non aquatics, buy from greenline plants (www.aquaticplants.eu.com) or find your nearest tropica supplier, they will both provide quaity REAL aquatic plants.

greenline if your on the cheap, tropica if you want quality for that special aquascape. ;)

id rather order from greenline than java or plants alive anyday.... www.aquaticplants.eu.com is the website, they do much better collections and have a much better selection of single plants.

i vacuum every waterchange, and i just aim for all the bits of dead leafs and stuff, i just brush it over my foreground plants.

elodea densa, java moss, java fern, all are very easy plants to grow.
