    From A Trigon 350 To A Rio 300

Took the rotkiel to Maidenhead today and a few other fish, gutted that I have to give it away! But I have my reasons also shifted a few fish from this tank and another on. It was a nightmare with the rio I had to dismantle the full tank to get the fish, never again lol. But every cloud has a...

    Salvini - Sexing.

I have had my Salvini since the beginning of the year from a very small juvi, it has gone from no colour to bright red and yellows and now to a dark and bluey sheen which is a trait of a male. The dot on the dorsal fin stood out in the early days but now not so much. So I'm wondering what's...

    Advice For My Tank Please

The Ellioti will not have the tools to back up the gill flaring against a gt for sure and probably the jd, thorichtys are all talk but when it comes to actually lip locking and fighting they are very weak hence why there biggest form of aggression and intimidation is Gill flaring. If you start...

    From A Trigon 350 To A Rio 300

Nope, I have ferts and liquid carbon but barely use them. Depending on how the severums are feeling they don't tend to last long looking good. I have attached some java ferns and moss on the background, you can't really see it in the pictures. I just hope that they grow quickly before they...

Tesco Cat Litter And Panda Corys?

The Tesco cat litter will be absoloutely fine some grains look big but although they are not hollow they seem it so in water they seem to be light and can easily be shifted. I found the pets at home stuff to be larger. I have clown loach and hoplos and have also had corys at one time and it...

    Gill Flaring

ooh you will have to get used to the gill flaring if you have two thorichtys in your tank as said above will either be courtship or dominance but they should not lip lock and if they do it will be a very last resort, Thorichtys have notoriously weak jaws and mouths.

    Black Ghostknife Fish

They are predominantly nocturnal so when happy within a cave or somewhere dark this is when they will usually rest. Do you have anywhere dark for the knife fish to rest or is your tank quite open which would explain why it is never on its side.

    Colourful, Peaceful Male Cichlid Tank

Depending on stocking but i would not advise elliotis, they tend to be terretorial and do get large once full grown. Some like small aquidens species, anomalachromis thomasi, flag cichlids and ofcourse apistos.

    Black Ghostknife Fish

That is incorrect. Have you owned one before? Totally normal behaviour... they lay on there side just like clown loach do, You have nothing to worry about.

    Salvini Cichlid Stocking Question

My salvini is in with Severums and elliotis cichlid wise and also hoplo catfish, clown loach, a couple of plecs and some dither fish which are rosey and emperor tetras. The thing with me is I got the salvini when she was so small and all the other fish was much larger so I have not had many...

    Salvini Cichlid Stocking Question

I have a female, very placid so far although growing in size she seems to be finding her feet, had her for around 6 months from about an inch long with no colour to what she is now Salvinis are very hit and miss, always be prepared to rehome or separate, they are not like Thorichtys species...

    Question About My Firemouth

Are you sure there is 2 females and 1 male? Thorichtys species are notoriously hard to sex also dynamics in Thorichtys species is ever changing even with breeding pairs as I have found out first hand. Your tank is on the small side and if they do pair off then the one left put will have to go as...

    Got Myself Some Ellioti :d

Nice fish elliotis but they will get either the same size as a BA and probably bigger but not by a whole lot. I have a pair and they have been paired up the last 6-8 months and in that time they have been terrorists and trouble causers in my tank, never damaged another fish but alot of flaring...

If your in the hull area go check crystal clear waters in conniston, I picked up a fully working second hand 3000l/h powerhead and hydor external heater for less than £10. Failing that all ponds solutions have good bang for buck powerheads.
