It's A Great Day For Being Sad..

It's worth the sacrifice, and the fronts wound up in a bigger tank anyway. Aaaaand someday I'd like fronts again, but this time Zaire Blues

It's A Great Day For Being Sad..

Reef,baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..........! The fronts are happy as clams (oOOh,I'm sooo getting a clam!). I was absolutely amazed at how well they handled the trip over there and everything...they weren't even phased :S So I tore down the old tank, cleaned it up and I'm going to (maybe) paint the...

    Back To This Again

Finding out exactly what sorts of cichlids you have will be beneficial to you in the future. Not everyone knows what a yellow/black blotch is, but I'm willing to bet that some here will know just by that description  Maybe if you can take a pic the folks here can properly identify them for...

    Big-time Emergency

*bet the impeller will just need a good clean, with cotton buds That could very well be true ^ timmy, yes, he'll be fine but your tank might crash.

The betta should be fine without a filter for three days. Just move the others and be glad it happened before you left.

    Back To This Again

I'm confused, which tank are you talking about stocking? By the sounds of it you already own a figure eight puffer and the oscars? If so you should pick an oscar and put it in the 74, you can get away with two for a while but you'll most likely have to get rid of one someday. I don't think you...

It's A Great Day For Being Sad..

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My lfs has several in and they're adorable! They get quite large :hyper: I'm sad about the fronts, too. But I went to my lfs today and the owner was in so I dragged him over to show the fronts to him. He wants to put them in the 500+ gallon Tang display tank, so I'll still...

To All Those With Juvies And Fry

That's exactly it, SMC  If you want your fish back- you include the shipping money with your entry fee (entry fee is usually 2.00 per fish, this goes to the hosting club and helps them cover the cost of their building, awards etc). So you send your fish, each labeled with a number that...

It's A Great Day For Being Sad..

Thanks guys, they are very nice  I woke up this morning ,flipped on my living room light and my stomach sank when I saw the empty tank :/ I'm gonna miss those guys. I'd better get some live rock in that tank quick! Ginge, I can't even believe it happened so quickly but it all...

    10 Pin Bowling

Bowling is great. I took my daughter to play a couple of games this afternoon. Bowling with kids rules because you have a legit excuse to use bumper lanes.

It's A Great Day For Being Sad..

:( :) Today I took my beautiful frontosa up to my lfs to trade them in for store credit :( It was really hard to do and I nearly had an anxiety attack as I took on the task of filling buckets. I had to stop and think for a couple hours and make sure this is what I really want to do. It was...

A year old is fine with plakats though. They're like a fine wine baby B) I plan on showing my marble daddy along with his kids :look: Same with DT daddy and his mini-me's. I have to go in regular classes this year though as I showed in regular before they made the new two year rule for...

    Wilds

I'm not sure what it is but I'm guessing the cooler temperatures? Mahachai update-After spawning with male #2, I guess she felt pity for male #1 as he has a nest full of eggs now too! Or he kidnapped male # 2's  J/K, they both have eggs which means one female spawned with two males...

To All Those With Juvies And Fry

Just a reminder to you guys with all of your beautiful juvies, the show season starts up in just a few weeks and that's something fun you can do with your fish  The IBC has a Novice program for those of us who don't feel ready to jump in with the big dogs just yet, and it's a great way to...

    Wilds

I boil a pot of water and dip them for like a minute, then lay them out to dry, and use em! I stick them in the microwave if they've sat in the fish room for a while or something. The water gets milky the first two days after you put them in but it clears up really fast.

    Wilds

The simplex are a bit tricky, I don't know why. I swore that this time I'd leave the female in but then I'd watch her swim up to him and ...I dunno...it seemed like she wanted a bite of whatever he was holdin' I didn't trust her, and he didn't seem to either. But then as soon as I pull...

    Wilds

Salt and oak leaves, plus an abundant amount of blackworms. I guess they're content although I'm about to rock their world. The first few groups of fry are getting pretty big (for bettas) and I don't want the newer daddy to freak out on them when his eggs start to hatch so I'm about to cup as...

    Wilds

Gah, simplex swallowed. Last night I snuck in and yanked the female out, I saw the male acting very agitated towards her and he'd also taken position under the driftwood which is where I'd hoped he'd go. So, this morning he was empty mouthed. I assume he swallowed. The mahachai are at it again...

    Betta Report

I personally prefer frozen food, and so do the bettas, fins down. Mine get frozen food once a day- it differs from frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and mysis. I feed them pellets one day a week. I've noticed that when I skip the pellets they sort of act a little funny, maybe a bit sluggish is...

    Another Bright Idea...

orrr, you could split the ten three ways, put george in there, try the girls in the six- leaving room for angels. Just a thought, the girls might not work out though (you know them best) and George may not appreciate losing his six gallon pad  Your first idea is probably best.

    Anyone For Tomatoes?

lljdma  That's too funny and gross  My lil Har Har loves 'maters, too. But it gets frustrating when you go to harvest fruit and theres a bite out of every ripe one :grr: Last year I had yellow pear plants popping up all over the yard, I let several of them grow wild and they got...

    Who's Watching The Olympics?

Yesterday was great. Sasha Cohen is amazing, taking First Place was a shining moment for her and probably the first sincere smile I've ever seen on her face. Deal Of The Century

I didn't read the auction, but is there an extra female by chance? If so, I'll take her and you can bring her with my adoptarino's  I have that copper male from a couple shows ago and he's just  almost identical to the one pictured (but even cuter! :P )

    Salt Bath Formula?

Gah! That first one looks really awful. What sort of meds do you have on hand? Any methylene blue? personally I think salt and daily water changes will suffice. Keep them clean, seperate them into different tanks if possible. I've never given a salt bath before, but if you feel confident by all...

    Salt Bath Formula?

I thought your plan was to just add a bit of salt to their water as they heal, I didn't even notice you mentioning a bath. Personally I think salt baths can be stressful and in the case of ripped fins, unnecessary. How damaged are they? Gotta pic?

    Thank You

It's amazing how some people put themselves last in such terrible times. It takes a truly brave soul, that was a lovely well thought out post Ral. I can't even imagine what it must be like to be there :(
  39. wuvmybetta

    Salt Bath Formula?

I would use less than half a teaspoon per gallon. Keep their water extra clean and they should heal quickly.
