Very impressive  I especially like your gourami, he's quite the handsome fellow. Welcome to the board!

I've only seen 1 Giant Gourami up close in my life, and that was at the Shed Aquarium in Chicago, Ill. I like those fish. Very nice ;)

Like you said, you hope to help out newbies. What is a trickle system and what is its purpose/job?

hi neal. the trickle system is a fail safe way to conect the water from two tanks. i made my own large filter for both of these tanks and on that filter i have a large pond pump in the bottom tank. this pushes the water through the filter and up in to the top tank. behind the background there is a hole at the top of the tank (set at the height i want the water in the top tank) with a petrol type filter on it as the water rises it trickles bak in to the bottom tank. its similar to a sump but i prefer inline filtration rather than wasting a 6ft tank. the advantage is that if in a powercut nothing floods or over flows. hope this helps fella?

yeah they are simply amazing fish. very clever very powerful and many say they are very ugly. not sure about across the pond there but here they do come up fairly often. of course its no good if you cant home it in a tank. and thats the deciding factor. alf was a rescue from a 3ft tank!!! :grr:  and now his in a 6x2x2 tank with a couple of oscars. although a tight fit it wont be long before i have a guy make me a 10x3x3 tank in the house... he should look very impressive in that.
