    Holiday Feeding

Hi there, I am going to be away for 12 days soon, the last two times I have been away I have come back to either dead fish or lots of algae when someone else (a different person both times!) has fed the fish. What's the best way to feed the fish, has anyone had any problem with the dissolvable...

    Feeding Fish Real Food

Hi, I was wondering of the food that gets put in the bin, how much could be used as fish food? I believe that they like peas, and beef heart, but are other types of meat or veg good for them? Thanks, M :)

    Sick Molly Or Not?

Have you added aquarium salt? It may well help the Molly, but check with what else is in the tank for salt/brackish compatibility.

    What The Heck Happened?

Really hard to say, could just be coincidence or simply an elderly fish? Missing eyes and tail is normal, fish eat the soft part of other dead fish.

    Perfect Water, Dead Fish

I have found several dead fish in my tank today, all of them had fins missing. Dead fish: 1 male guppy, 3 cardinal tetras, and my male betta. Tank has been fine and peaceful, only recent changes have been adding the guppies a week ago, and yesterday I had a flood in the house which meant they...

    Dead Betta

Hi there, I found my lovely Betta had died today. I have not noticed any aggression in the tank at all, but before I replace him can I please check that none of the following are likely to harass a male Betta? Cardinal Tetras Male Guppies Male Swordtail Panda Corys Small Pleco Thanks, Mark

    Plant Advice

The tank has two flourescent tubes, both 24 inches. I cannot see any markings on them to indicate power, they came with the tank in the hood. It is a LAC R390 BF. From looking at similar products am guessing at 20W each tube? Is it possible to get more powerful ones? Thanks, M

    Plant Advice

The tank is 6 months old, nothing rubs off and the rest of the plant is alive. There is a pinhole on one of the leaves, I would have hoped that my UV on the external filter would have prevented diatoms?

Yes, replied to that response (which I am very grateful for!) 225l, 2x standard tubes (about 90cm long), lots of plants! Photo period - natural daylight (not direct) then most of the evening lights on, about 6 hours. Thanks, M :)

    Brown Bits On Plants

Hi there, thanks for responding. Lighting is what came with the tank, 2 florescent strips. They are not going transparent or dissolving! I could put a pic on if that would help? The only think I can think of is that the external filter is due a clean out!

    Brown Bits On Plants

The title says it really - some of my plants are turning brown, it's mainly at the ends of the leaves. Do they need some ferts or CO2? The tank is well planted with lots of fish, so would have assumed plenty of nitrates for the plants however nitrates showed as zero when I tested.

That's sad, however I cannot help but wonder if you made things worse by experimenting with surgery, even if your intentions were good. At least she is not suffering now.

Starting A New Filter Using An Old Tank

The fish will produce a set amount of ammonia therefore only support a fixed amount of bacteria. Over time, the original bacteria would therefore be spread equally over both filters (assuming same surface area in both). This means that when you remove the new filter, the old one will only have...

Hi Ainsy, Thank you that is very helpful. I have 225l, so about 60 USG. I presume that if I have other fish as well as 6 discus then I would be overstocked? The tank is heavily planted and over filtered, and I do 90% water change every week so nitrates are either very low or zero so...
